It is with previously unreached levels of regret and sadness that we write to inform you that the remainder of RZA's UK tour has, unfortunately, been postponed. PROPERLY GUTTING, LIKE.
As previously reported we, and any UK-based fans of the Wu-Tang Clan and its associated projects, got pretty excited at the announcement of a UK jaunt. It included, of all places, an appearance at The Duchess in York. Shavo from System Of A Down was all set to guest star, too!
RZA was set to play York tonight, having previously played London and Liverpool. The following dates are the ones affected/postponed:
October:
5 - York, The Duchess
6 - Birmingham, Rainbow Warehouse
7 - Leeds, Stylus
8 - Dublin, Button Factory
9 - Bristol, 02 Academy
10 - Oxford, 02 Academy
A spokesperson for RZA told popular music news website NME.com that the cancellation was due to "unforseen logistical problems", which could quite possibly mean any number of about a hundred or so "problems".
The aforementioned spokesperson also said:
"RZA will tour UK when his 'Tao Of Wu' book is on sale here. Dates are currently being rescheduled. All tickets remain valid for rescheduled shows, or for refunds contact point of purchase."
So, yeah, hang on to your tickets fellows and fellettes.
The previously mentioned book is his second publication in total. The Tao of Wu is the follow-up to 2005's Wu-Tang Manual and sees RZA document his own journey to enlightenment, or something approaching it.
In it, he explains how he was inspired by such religions as Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism and Islam, as well as by master martial artist Bruce Lee. The Tao of Wu is released on October 20 by Riverhead Books. Maybe he'll be back soon.
