Sky Larkin release new track 'Smarts' as free download
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater September 23rd, 2009

Sky Larkin have been feeling generous today and why not - we all need a bit of cheer in our lives during the early stages of Autumn. The important bit: they're giving away a brand new song entirely for free as a download from their website. Called 'Smarts', it's pretty damn heavy and you can get it by clicking here and filling in the necessary details.

Singer/guitarist Katie Harkin gives the low-down:

“Smarts was recorded in one day in Wales with our Golden Spike amigo John Goodmanson. It just so happened that for 24hrs our paths crossed, so we decided to use the time to reignite our musical flame. It’s certainly the loudest number we’ve created, so as a counter point we also recorded an acoustic version of Matador back home in our Yorkshire writing space; The Crypt (NB, an actual crypt). This version of Matador features upright bass, downright slinky drums and a hundred year old pump organ with pleasingly wobbly pipes. We invite you to download them for free and hope to see you at a show this autumn before we go into hibernation to write Sky Larkin 2.0?

So yeah, that's the back story behind it. It comes with virtual artwork, too, which is rather snazzy.

If you fancy the chance of catching this new song in action, mosey on down to one of these places at the following dates:

September:

26 - Bradford, The Polish Club
27 - Derby, The Royal
29 - Sheffield, Bungalow and Bears
29 - Bristol, Cooler
30 - London, Cargo

October:
2 - Tunbridge Wells, Forum
3 - Aldershot, West End Centre
5 - Aberdeen, Café Drummond
6 - Glasgow, Classic Grand
7 - Newcastle, Mr Lynch
10 - Manchester, Night and Day

Supports include Copy Haho (Scotland), Munch Munch (Bristol and London) and Telekinesis (London).
