The Strokes have been away for a while and nobody seems to much care for them any more. Aside from the odd "end of decade" list that's floating around they're gone (away) but perhaps not entirely forgotten. They will be returning some time soon, though, with their fourth record in the pipeline. Yet, their spirit lives on in their many, many solo projects.
We reported back in July that Strokes main man Casablancas was to release a solo record sometime in the near future, entitled Phrazes For The Young.
That near future just got a whole lot nearer: Casablancas has now set an official release date for his first solo record. The date: October 19. 2009. Just in time for him to make his way into slot 289 in the Top 300 Albums of The Noughties.
Production duties have been shared about, with Mike Mogis and Jason Leader putting their fingers in this particularly crusty musical pie.
We know what some of the tracks are named, but not their order. So, in random order:
'Out of the Blue'
'River of Brake Lights'
'4 Chords of the Apocalypse'
'11th Dimension'
'Ludlow St.'
'Glass'
'Left & Right in the Dark'
'Tourist'
As we reported back then, the front cover might look something like this artistic rendition of JC.
Super. Dapper. Etcetera.
We believe there's still a preview on his website, so hot-step it on over to there to hear what's on offer.
