Right, so just after a year we've managed to rack up the Big Five-Oh, the 50th edition of Spotifriday - a collection of tracks by people who have been featured on the website in the past week or so. Simple concept. Anyway, as it is a landmark edition we thought we'd do something a little bit different. And possibly problematic.

What we've decided to do is select the first 10 tracks and make the playlist collaborative, for you to select the remaining 10. Sort of as a competition, sort of not. We're obviously not going to leave it like this for the long time, but we'll do it for a little while and then make a decision on the songs that YOU have chosen. Not that I'm being uptight or anything, but any silly sabotage attempts to put the whole Rick Astley back-catalogue on it will lead to the whole thing being stopped. So one track only please and play nicely. The best/most unlikely/most interesting/sheer crappest 10 will get chosen to make up the remainder of the playlist, possibly with a namecheck in this article, possibly not.

1. Björk - 'Pagan Poetry'

Good news for fans of mega-ultra-brilliant collaborations, as the Icelandic wonderment of Björk will link up on record with Dirty Projectors, following their performance together last year. The album they'll release is called Mount Wittenberg Orca and you can find out a bit more about it here.

2. Blonde Redhead - '23'

As said in the news article itself, September 13 is shaping up to be a great day for record releases. News came to us yesterday that their new album Penny Sparkle will be released that day through 4AD. You should all know '23' by now. If you don't then give it a spin. Virtually.

3. CocoRosie - 'Trinity's Crying'

CocoRosie are an odd duo. Odd doesn't quite do it justice. But the world they've created for themselves is hard not to gaze into and even harder to try and take yourself away from. We interviewed them with the help of BeatCast.tv and a video camera recently, quizzing them on the themes in their current LP, Grey Oceans. Click here to watch it.

4. Perfume Genius - 'Mr Peterson'

Perfume Genius is one of those names that have been bandied around the indie music world in the last few months, with people openly proclaiming his brilliance. But what would the record turn out like? Would it live up to the initial promise of 'Mr Peterson'? According to James Skinner it did, getting a big fat 9/10.

5. Philip Glass - 'In The Upper Room: VIII. Dance VIII'

Is this Philip Glass's first appearance in one of these playlists? Is it his last? Only time will tell but this week we got Yannis from Foals to fire a few questions at him, much of which were quite theoretical. Obviously. You aren't going to ask him if he prefers brown or red sauce, are you? Read the interview here.

6. Adam And The Ants - 'Prince Charming'

Now, Adam Ant didn't actually feature this week on Drowned in Sound. Not to my knowledge, anyway. BUT it's not every day that His Royal Highness Prince Charles pays a visit to Glastonbury, which started yesterday. Full proceedings start today, but view our photos of people lounging around (and HRH) here.

7. Pulled Apart By Horses - 'I Punched A Lion In The Throat'

The best live band in the UK. Bar none. Agree? They popped up In Photos here and also gave an insight into their debut self-titled record here. Well worth a read. Well worth indeed.

8. Nina Nastasia - 'What's Out There'

The new Nina Nastasia record, Outlaster, came out a couple of weeks ago, but we reviewed it this week, quite positively in fact. Seems that this track is a fair indication in the haunting quality contained on the rest of the album. Delicate.

9. HEALTH - 'Die Slow'

HEALTH managed to nab themselves the coveted Single Of The Week prize, as awarded by Wendy Roby. Read her thoughts on it here. Unfortunately that was for their track 'USA Boys', which doesn't appear on Spotify. 'Die Slow' does, however, which is exactly why it's put on here. And because it's quite fantastic.

10. Oneohtrix Point Never - 'Describing Bodies'

This one was actually reviewed on Friday last week. But an exception has been made, partly because we want to, and partly because it's a great record which has been much discussed on our boards. This represents the end of the formal Spotify playlist, so get adding.
