Bubba Sparxxx

Ms New Booty

Label: Virgin Release Date: 20/03/2006

13021
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver March 22nd, 2006

Forever on the periphery of critically commended commercial hip-hop, southern state rapper of a particularly pale complexion Bubba Sparxxx finds himself debuting his forthcoming third long-player alongside the gormless-sounding Ying Yang Twins. The guests are, to be honest, an unwelcome distraction, as when Sparxxx delivers his verses, his vocals are free-flowing and soothingly smooth, even if he is waxing lyrical purely on the charms of the opposite sex’s posterior: “Your chest is just whatever, I’ve found the buried treasure.”

The beats, too, are melt-in-the-mouth silky, sirens and cricket-click beats dancing over a flaming bassline. That, though, is perhaps to be expected: Sparxxx has been working with the team responsible for so many of Outkast’s finest efforts to date, Organized Noise, among others (production here comes from Mr ColliPark). Furthering the connection with the ‘Ms Jackson’ rappers, ‘Ms New Booty’ comes out through Big Boi’s own Virgin imprint, Purple Ribbon. That newly forged relationship, alongside Sparxxx’s continuing work with Timbaland, can’t damage his chances of generating a little green with said third album, The Charm, one iota.

But the Ying Yang Twins? Giant flabby arse.
