Featuring human beatbox supremo Rahzel, ‘Out Of Breath’ should be so much more than the monotonous dirge that it is. Roni Size’s beats are grittier than ever, but through not fully utilising his guest he comes a cropper through simply delivering too much of the same thing. Had this been a nice, three-minute-long effort it’d have fared better in the critical stakes; at five minutes plus it well and truly outstays its welcome. Bjork has put the larynx-twister to better work on her otherwise patchy ‘Medulla’ album; get that for an example of how beatboxing can add to a record. Better than ‘Out Of Breath’ is the flip side, ‘Bump ‘N’ Grind’. Club DJs take note: your punters will be.

Roni Size - Out Of Breath

Hmm, it's alright. The bit where it's just cut up samples of Rahzel in the middle completely kills the momentum of it though...I think you're right when you say he doesn't use Rahzel in the right way. He's used a little throughout the main bits and then when he's put to full use he just kills the song's drive.

I heard the new Bjork single and that sounded good...I don't know about the album though (is Rahzel beatboxing on all the songs or just a couple?).

Re: Roni Size - Out Of Breath

Just a couple.
Or maybe just one, actually - he's on the last track for sure.
