Repairman

Here We Are Now

Label: Long Lost Brother Records Release Date: 20/10/2003

5073
gdobson by Gareth Dobson October 20th, 2003

As we become increasingly used to being force-fed tunes as bright and vivid as the advertising in Leicester Square, it’s occasionally nice to revel in a band who gently and assiduously sneak songs into your subconscious.

Just because Repairman don’t wield guns like guitars and drumsticks like nunchucks, doesn’t mean their weapons are any less potent; ‘Here Are We Now’ troops single file into your brain like a less-student inclined Gomez, and takes residence with a look of steadfast immovability. Jaunty without being utterly annoying, wispy without being winsome, it’s also very nicely complemented by the deft and hypnotic ‘Georges Empire’. And then it’s gone; queuing itself up to be played again. Very nice indeed.
