following on the heels of 'small craft on a milk sea', brian eno's releases a new collection, 'drum between the bells', featuring the words of rick holland. he and eno began working together in 2003 after meeting in the late '90s through eno's collaborative map-making project, but 'drums between the bells' doesn't include any of those early works. this is the best album the ambient pioneer has been involved with since the mid-eighties. imagine boards of canada's 'music has the right to children' as an actual soundtrack to a documentary, or if the bbc radiophonic workshop has been left alone to produce audio documents for schools right up until today. the music recalls eno right across the ambient spectrum from 'airports' to 'apollo'.
