A likeable marriage of The Libs’ ramshackle drive with Futureheads’ wonky pop thrust, Operahouse may be depressingly trad of influence but at least they’re not dragging their knuckles on the way in.
In fact, ‘Born A Boy’ is surprisingly light on its feet, zipping along at a fair old pace like some dim kid stealing a march on the finish line in the egg-and-spoon race, blissfully unaware of the empty cutlery item staring him in the face.
That, and at a little over two minutes long, it’s out the door before you’ve had chance to ponder whatever shortcomings it might have had. Sweet.
