After 10 years together, Creed have decided to call it a day.
A statement on the band's official website confirms the rumours that have been circulating for some time: "After nearly a decade together, Creed has decided to disband. During their 8 years and 3 albums together Creed achieved countless Rock & Roll milestones and sold over 30 million albums worldwide. With their unprecedented success at radio and their captivating live shows, Creed became one of the most successful acts to rule the charts over the past ten years."
The band have had a turbulent time following the release of their mega-successful multi-million seller 2001 album, 'Weathered'. As we have previously reported, in April last year four fans famously filed a lawsuit against the band for being 'rubbish' at a live show in Chicago. There have been concerns over lead singer Scott Stapp's health which may have contributed to the break up.
Predictably, a greatest hits package will be released before the end of the year. Will you be first in the queue?

did the press release seriously say that, or that a typo at DiS's end? still cant work out how that phrase should have been worded, because its obviously bollocks. unprecendented at what?
and i love the way the record company try and spin the fact that creed get sued for their live shows into 'captivating live shows'. pure quality. a press release almost as pretentious as the band itself..

Fuck me how did a band so fuckin non-discript sell 30 million albums - when you read this sort of stuff you realise it isnt the much maligned record industry that is fucked up - it is the world itself!

I was happy to ignore Creed and their sub-Pearl Jam dirge - other than 'What If?' I can't say any of their songs has been even remotely appealing to me.
However, in reading interviews with Scott Stapp, I realised that there has been no bigger cockhead in the history of music. For someone so keen to promote a wholesome, Christian image, I was amused at how he referred to albums as "products" and the places he and the band toured as "markets." It was very clear that his God is actually a wad of green paper and not the creator.

I certainly wouldn't put Creed down as one of my favourite bands, but I've got a couple of their CDs and they're not bad. I don't care that they've split up.

At their 'best', Creed were bearable, however, 99% of the time, they blew big time. As to whether they got sued, i can't remember, i was too busy laughing. Oh and the comment about Incubus was a bit off the mark - the new album is really growing on me.

I have taken flack from a few DiSsers for saying this but their debut album was really good. It is how silverchair shoulda been instead of releasing that Neon Ballroom mess!

when they played manchester i think and they played for 20 minutes or something and got really pissed off with the crowd, whereas at the free concert they played way longer.

I still cringe that I was such a tool two years ago that I actually bought that piece of crap that was Weathered and enjoyed it.
Thankfully I got over it. Amusingly, it was Silverchair that got me over it.

I heard that Stapp has decided to "adopt" the Tea Party i.e one of Canada's best bands.

Creed were an OK band. In other words nothing special. They were pertentious but lets face it what bands do you know that arnt. At the end of the day I dont really give a shit but their are a lot more bands that are far worse than them out their chirning out mindless crap that they call music.

I can't believe what I am reading, I believe that Creed had great music. These guys had real talent when they were together. All you idiots out there that are bashing creed probably like bands like Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Manson, and all bands that are of the sort. I guess if you call screaming at the top of your lungs singing, or if you like songs about drugs and suicide, then yeah you probably wont like creed. There music was positive, not negative, like most rock bands. I am sorry to see it come to an end. Some day you will all see what Scott Stapp is doing for the music industry. You have to give the guys credit they sold millions of records, that has to say something. This world needs groups like creed was, and less groups like puddle of mudd, maryiln manson, ozzy, etc. etc. etc. Peace

I am sorry if I have insulted anyone's taste for music. To make it plain and simple, we need more music that has a positive influence on our lives instead of a negative one. I feel that creed's music was a positive influence and had a real message to it.
