Oasis to take 2007 off

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, pictured, has told BBC 6 Music that the band plan to take a break from the cycle of touring and recording, eventually returning in 2008.

Noel told Russel Brand - you know, the rat-faced one from the Big Brother spin-off shows - that he'll begin writing in 2007. Noel said:

"We had a couple of tracks left over from the last record and in our own heads we thought they were good enough to be released as an EP.

"We went back and listened to the tapes and we reckon we can get it better, so we're having the year off instead."

Noel also made comments about James Blunt and The Arctic Monkeys during his time at the station, but frankly we're not going to patronise you with such quotes. Such opinions are fairly obvious, no?

I need someone to explain why 2007 will be poorer for there being none of their meat-and-potatoes ambition-free rock that they've produced since 1995. And to tell me that I've got no right to an opinion because I like Muse!

How many times have they gone on about their immensley "prolific" sessions...the albums worths of extra material and they can't even cobble together an EP. Really no wonder if "don't believe the truth" was their best shot.

I'm a little disappointed.

Oh. Not with the news. I could care less. But with your guys's comments. Seems like the DiS news staff (from atop the penthouse floor, Fleet Street) lobbed us one here. Where's the witty retorts?

This isn't news. They've been on vacation since Definately Maybe.
I've seen Oasis live. I'm pretty sure such an uninspired act was either on vacation or in desperate need of one.

But I gotsta split now and I'm too far invested in my own typing too simply delete it. For those of you who've read through all this shit and are now kicking yerselves....well, you really ought to know better. :-)

I wonder if Liam brings his underaged model girlfriends on vacation with him? I'm free to babysit Friday nights as luck would have it. :-)
