V Weekend tickets go in eight minutes
Off the back of the most unlikely booking of Radiohead's summer and bemusement from the party faithful: middle class campers and hardcore Yorke followers collided over the ticketing websites at 9am this morning to see V - that most commercial and derided of festivals - sell out of weekend tickets (with and without camping) at the Chelmsford site in just eight minutes - with the Staffordshire event selling out in 48 minutes.
As a load bearing measure, See Tickets (aka. gigsandtours.com) staggered the release of tickets with two small, extra blocks of tickets released over the hour that followed the main batch but each of these sold out in less time than it took for most to type in their card details.
Saturday day tickets for Chelmsford (Bloc Party, Keane, Beck, Radiohead line up) were third to go with the corresponding Sunday tickets for the Staffordshire leg going soon after. Seriously, look here.
For Radiohead fans desperate to see what happens when they headline V, there is always the rough mistress of eBay. There are some with camping up already; a bargain at £500 a pair.
The moral of the story: make more friends with Virgin mobiles next year, take some typing classes or buy a better alarm clock.

gai. am clearly destined never to see radiohead live.
Oh.
Maybe i was saved, then. Good.
It's on my doorstep...
...so there was no way I was missing out on seeing Radiohead play Weston Park.
I don't care what everyone says about V, it's so close to me I can't miss out.
Pluse I got free tickets to cover it for the Shropshire Star last year so that was mint.
Clean toilets, no queues for beer and grabbed a quick chat with Roddy Woomble and Rod Jones from Idlewild. Mint.
I'm sorry...
...but this just wasn't the case. Go to the eFestivals forum and they had tickets links for both festivals working well past 10am.
If you looked at Ticketmaster, that may well have been the picture. But See Tickets actually seem to have gotten their act together more recently and it wasn't too hard to get them from there...
It really is a horrible festival.
The awful atmosphere permeates everything with uncoolness.

Radiohead gig

There is one gig at Koko. £55 quid each and only 1000 available - I'm scared to think how much they'll go for on ebay!
I mostly agree with this
"Yes, it has a shit atmosphere and yes, most people who go to it are cunts, but you can't argue with this year's line-up - Radiohead and Morrissey alone are worth the ticket price methinks."
Except I think that, given its reputation, it actually has not a bad atmosphere, as long as you go with a group of mates and go for a laugh.
And this years line up looks top.
all I'll say is...
I have a chelmsford day ticket, only for saturday. Its conveniently just down the road. Bloc party and radiohead are worth enough to me. morrissey.well he can piss off and die.useless smug veggie pillock anyone who claims fun is vulgar deserves to die and have their grave desecrated. and the atmosphere is always good. 3 years ago was by far the best line up though. last year's was abysmal.
I'm not apologising for going to V
and quite frankly I think you're a cunt.
V=
evil
I'm there!
....
Bah
A day ticket for Saturday would've been a good idea. Radiohead and Beck = probably worth making an appearance, if only for the day
But they're sold out. Meh
I got
a day ticket, stupid friend peer-pressure.
V IS RUBBISH
But I can't help but go every year. It's down the road from me and it'd be rude not to pop down and welcome Radiohead to my hometown.
I see Faithless are playing again - Is there a year they HAVEN'T played!? They're like the V resident band.
Curiously, despite them apparently selling out in 8 minutes, I got 3 weekend tickets at about 3 in the afternoon - a good 6 hours after they 'sold out'?
You can still get tickets
The Chelmsford Civic Theatre still has day tickets for sale, including for the Saturday when Radiohead are playing. If you don't believe me check here http://www.chelmsford.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=8564 and then ring them on 01245 606505.
