Hundred Reasons are offering their fans, those that play in bands anyway, the chance to feature beside them on a split single.
The post-hardcore quintet, recently signed to V2 following their departure from Columbia, are putting the finishing touches to their third record. Preceding the album's release will be a limited-edition single, the third in the band's Singles Club series, that will be available on their December tour.
This is where those fans come in: if you're in a band, and have a Myspace account, add Hundred Reasons as a friend at myspace.com/hundredreasons, leaving a link to your own page. Be sure to mention what track you'd like the band to listen to. The band will listen to everything they can, and the winning band will feature on the limited split (available as a download following the tour, dates below).

thats nice
of them, giving someone new a chance at being heard ... im not the biggest H*R fan but id still love to be able to get to the fibbers show in york.
would be good to see them up close somewhere small and sweaty.
i remember
singles club #3 was meant to come out ages ago, after their tour with Capdown which was.. er.. 2002? i have singles club #2 somewhere, it has an HIFH demo on it. good stuff.
tempted by the barfly gig, actually, as i reckon they'd be a lot of fun in a small venue.
Is that what...
...those Singles Club things are?
I have a couple, then. Ones you had to send off for, or email for, or something like that..??
yeah
you were supposed to get them if you emailed your address and signed up to their mailing list. i missed out on #1 (i often saw it on ebay for £20-ish at the height of HR's populartity), i forget who it had on it but the idea was after each tour they'd issue one featuring the bands from the tour along with an exclusive HR track. #2 had HIFH and Errortype:11 on it.
sure they do
H*R have some fantastic fans and their music has some actual substance to it unlike the NMEs current here today gone tomorrow scenester shites
i have the # 2
it wasn't very good but it was a gift from the band so, that's a good idea...
nme did support h*r back in the day... im just saying these guys have the talent to keep a hold of their fans for more than a year and a half unlike many hot new things today - so you shouldnt be suprised that they're still playing shows and preparing a new album
I think
it's a special tour. There's another in the new year.
Last time I saw them they sold out the Astoria.
was
that with biffy?
yeah, that one was full, although their popularity has taken a nose dive. they sold out brixton at the end of 2002, and at the end of last year they were back at the electric ballroom..
HR...
...are good guys with life in them yet! Definately stalled on the second album, but they acknowledge that and recon they've learned from it. God knows we need some British rock in the charts in these grim days of "indie"
its weird
how much a failure people see shatterproof is not a challange as considering it was a top 20 album . . . hopefully the next album we see some renewed interest in the band
I heard
one of their new songs off their website to download. "No Pretending"
It's ace, a lot more "rocky" (not the film) than their older stuff.
album charts
album chart positions don't really mean much. going top 20 in the album isn't the same as having a top 20 single as albums are long-term investments, meant to stick around for a while. the first HR album went into the UK album charts at no 3 and went gold pretty quickly, I doubt the second one got even close so it is regarded as a failure in that sense.
you're right
And i'm not even sure getting gold was enough for Columbia to make money...
