DiS extends mad love to Pitchfork, because we read this news on their site.
Islands, the new project of one-time Unicorns folks Nick Diamond and J'aime Tambeur, are to release their debut album through Rough Trade in January.
Return To The Sea is slated for a UK release but there's no word on a US deal as yet.
The tracklisting looks a little like this:
Swans (Life After Death)
Humans
Don't Call Me Whitney, Bobby
Rough Gem
Tsuxiit
Where There's a Will There's a Whalebone
Jogging Gorgeous Summer
Volcanoes
If
Ones
Rumours rumours... apparently, the disc will feature guest contributions from members of Wolf Parade and Arcade Fire, while the touring Islands band will include former Royal City guitarist Jim Guthrie and rappers Subtitle and Busdriver from time to time. More news when we have it (or read it elsewhere).

THIS
can only be good news.
there's a live recording
of most of the songs, in a 'secret' place...
..well, not so secret anymore...
*cough*
www.secretunicornsforum.com? I cant wait to get home
I am shit-your-pants excited. However, Ruff Gem and Don't Call Me Whitney, Bobby are old Unicorns songs (not a bad thing). Also, Swans seems to be a mix of other old songs. Still, WAY EXCITED!
Horray!
Cannot wait for this little pop gem to be unleashed. And not long to wait either!
aw, crap.
no 'Bucky Little Wing'? shame. still good news though!
bucky little wing
isn't really as good as a lot of these, based on what i've heard, my guess is it'll be a bside.
but then, i'm just a stupid kid.
if
the file has expired or whatever, give me an email (telegraphmelts@hotmail com) and i'll make a yousendit-alicious link
i'm not sure,
'don't call me whitney, bobby' is sort of.. pish. maybe i'll come around to it.
URK
I really hope this album is good, 'the talented one' isn't involved, but it does appear to feature everyone who can play an instrument in canada on the record.
...
I've got the 'talented ones' solo stuff its godawful.
Hm
I'll wait and see, but I wasnt too excited by their Pop Montreal performance. They seem to have kinda killed those unicorns songs. I think Nick needed Alden to control the ego a little, and keep the songs fresh.
But I'll reserve judgement till I hear the record..
I disagree
alden's stuff is excellent. Catchy folk tunes, i dont know how he does it, his guitar writing is amazing.
