Weezer world records: new video does five things never done before

Original web geek rockers Weezer have broken five world records with their latest video.

The vid for new single 'Troublemaker', which went online last night, now holds the official Guinness World Records for: The Largest Air Guitar Ensemble (233 participants), The Largest Game Of Dodgeball (100, two teams of 50 people), The Longest Guitar Hero World Tour Marathon (10 hr 12 min 54 sec), The Most People In A Custard Pie Fight (120 people) and The Most People Riding On A Skateboard (22 'boarders).

And, in our best Kris Akabusi accent, here's thee wreckord-bweaken-vid-dee-oh AWOOGA! AWWRIGHT...

Weezer are currently working on their seventh LP, having released their sixth just four months ago.

DiScuss: anyone fancy trying to break all these records just to make Rivers write an angry concept song about it for the next album?

Kris Akabusi

never said awooga. it was fashnu you racists

hearing this news...

has just secured my undying love for weezer. long may they reign the weird and wonderful kingdom of weird

indeed...

Akabusi's catch phrase was AAALLRIIIGHHTT!

Oh for fucks sake

Sort it out

Eh?

How is that racist? Is it not a case of mistaken identity?

Are you for or against correct spelling? His name was Fashanu!

Poop!!

spelling fashist!

you're worse than hitler and racists!

Except that Red

is really bloody good!?

^ This

Other than those 3 tracks where 'The Others' take on vocal duties it's good and indeed at least 4 of the songs are FUCKING GOOD.

is there

a record for the number of records broken by a single music video? if so they could be in for a shout at that too...

nothing against weezer

but records where you just get a crowd of people to do stuff are lame. I want to see band members eating lightbulbs and wearing beards of bees.

it does.....great!

!

120 people in a custard fight doesnt seem very many at all! very beatible. sure i could soon sort a bigger one out witha group on facebook. anyone know a guinness book of records invidulator though?

yeah

your mum

Craig Charles

The phrase originated as a running joke on sci-fi series Red Dwarf in reference to the ship's emergency siren. It was, for some time popularized by fans of Red Dwarf and was later used by Red Dwarf star Craig Charles on his 1993 game show Cyberzone. Craig used the phrase in much the same context as on Red Dwarf (when the game show sirens were sounded) and it became a 'catch phrase' of sorts for Craig on the game show, but was also a reference to the Red Dwarf joke.

John Fashnu picked up the catch phrase after appearing on Craig's show 'Cyberzone' as a guest, and subsequently copied it for himself on Gladiators. This caused much upset amongst fans of both Red Dwarf and Craig Charles, not only because he had copied the phrase, but used it incorrectly as a personal 'catch phrase' of his own.

Former 'Weezer' Bassist, Mikey Welsh, Teams up With Montanaro Gallery for Artful Weekend

Mikey Welsh, originally from Boston, is the former bassist for the world-famous band, Weezer. Although he does not tour with the band any longer, he remains creatively productive. He’s been painting up a storm for the last several years and his body of work is raw, instinctive, colorful, and spontaneous. His new canvasses are figurative, richly textured, bold, and highly expressive. Many of the new works which will be on display at Montanaro Gallery have been created using a palette knife, finger painted, or the paint has been squeezed directly from the tube. This exhibition will feature an array of works on paper and canvas from the last three years, all of which will be available for purchase.

Saturday, November 8th, Newport, RI. Montanaro Gallery will present 'Mikey Welsh: Paintings and Drawings', with an Opening Artist Reception on Saturday, November 8th from 7-10pm at the gallery's 18 Franklin Street location in Newport, Rhode Island.
