judging by those titles, mercury wasn't a one off :S

how can u tell from the title of the songs what the record is going to be like? people like you make me so mad. why cant u just reserve judgement until you actually hear the record. prick

so I'm going to pre-order this, even though I haven't heard 'Mercury'

You don't get the download for no extra cost - it's £8 for the CD or £10 for CD+download.

I'm actually looking forward to it though. Unlike, it would seem, the majority of people here.

was in exactly the same boat and immediately asked for a refund - I wouldn't feel so cheated if it wasn't for the fact they only told you after 7pm before you part with your cash

really a Radiohead though is it? There's no real pay-what-you-like, you pay different amounts depending on what product you get. Plus given the way AWITC leaked stupidly early it's pretty sensible to just get it out as soon as feasibly possible.

Is that directed towards me? Compared to finishing it then waiting forever to release it. AWITC leaked a good couple of months before official release, the leak being the completed album so they didn't release it as soon as possible did they?

and i agree, that it's basically a model with different prices for different options. i don't think the timing with reading/leeds is a coincidence though - the reading show last year was HUGE for them, they pulled the biggest crowd of the weekend, and, in general, really connected with the audience in a way I've not seen them do at any of their other festivals/shows (and I've seen them 5-6 times now)

of releasing it on CD two months after it comes out on download? If they want to avoid leaks, why not just release it properly now?

And what's this we hear about a different tracklisting for the physical release? Does this suggest they haven't actually finished the album, or that they aren't bothered about the album format and just want to release songs as and when they can. I was mystified when they rereleased AWITC with Flux wedged in the middle. It seemed odd that a band who have gone to the trouble to create a quasi-concept album would not be bothered about the integrity of the tracklisting and running order.

untill I have heard lots of it and I can safely say it isn't as annoying as Mercury. I trusted Bloc Party with my cash on the second album and look what they went and did with it...

of confidence it'll be a polished turd. And you know what happens when someone tries that. I think the problem is that the lead singer thinks he's insightful: he's not, he's just someone who takes an interest in the world. He has no great intelligence or musical insight but he has a ridiculous ego. The hubris will probably cost the excellent other members of the band on this record.
Mercury was abysmal.

Simple as that really. I never got on 100% with Silent Alarm, but AWITC hits the spot. Despite the highly pretentious lyrics. In fact some of the lyrics are ridiculous. Still love it thought.

I'm also enjoying Trojan Horse as well.

and it wasn't that great. he was out of tune for most of it! kings of leon pulled the biggest crowd incidentally.

excellent bloody stuff, the guitar sound is AWESOME, well done bloc party for screwing your heads on using paul epworth.

heard some songs of the album,
trojen horse and one month off...
im worried this record will be poor as
those two songs arent all that great if im honest. they're both really electro sounding, which is cool, its a different sound for them but when the vocal's and the guitars come in, it sounds all a bit too familiar really.
come on boys! prove me wrong :(
