Let's play Dartz! - Teessiders return with mini-album

Returning after a brief break following the release of This Is My Ship (review) last year, Teesside trio Dartz! step back to the fold with the their politely-sized new mini-album, The Sad History Of The Village Of Alnerique, out on Xtra Mile Recordings on September 22.

Speaking about the release, guitarist Henry J. Carden said thus:

“For all of our old songs, the writing process basically consisted of us working on the music first and then once that was sorted, we’d work on the lyrics. For this release though, Philip had written some words and we thought it’d be interesting to try and write some music which suited the lyrics. It was a different approach for us but I think it’s resulted in The Sad History Of… being a much more cohesive collection of songs than any of our past releases.”

Recorded in an derelict warehouse in the glamorous Stockton-On-Tees, the closing track, ‘The End, Moving On’, will be available to download for free from the Xtra Mile site for 24 hours from 0000GMT 01/09/2008.

The Sad History Of The Village Of Alnerique runs:

‘The Arrival, Building Alnerique’
‘Oskar and Ofelia’
‘A New Venture from Mordecai & Sons’
‘The Clandestine Choir’
‘What Happens to Places Where Spaces Should Be’
‘The Lay of the Land’
‘Embers’
‘The End, Moving On’

The trio also have these dates inked in:

September
17 Edinburgh The GRV
18 Sunderland The White Rooms
19 Leeds Cockpit
20 London The Luminaire
21 Southend Chinnerys

hooray!

This is good news :D

Excellent!

Dartz!

I have been meaning to see these guys for a while, as my mate told me he saw them and they had a Jazz terroist that came on playin' sax with a ballaclava on. I havn't heard any other reports about this though so I fear it to be false or a one off event. So I don't think I'm bothered anymore unless they keep doing that...

I

keep forgetting about and then rediscovering their album. Good Band!

im hoping i dont go back to uni until the 22nd

just so i can see this gig

the xtra mile link

doesn't quite work and didn't they drop the exclamation mark in Dartz?

why is every band in the world

touring during the one month when I'm away, and no one's touring now when I'm bored at home?

Anyway this should be good - The End Moving On was streaming on their myspace a while ago and it sounded awesome.

Best news all year

LOVE this band, This Is My Ship was one of the best albums of 2007

can't wait

till the Leeds gig. mighty fine support for it as well so i hear.

That was my bro's band

Fist full of yen who supported Dartz! You should go see them, they are they are the best band in York (not really a hard task). My brother also did they flyer for that gig and they liked it so much that he is doing all the artwork for this mini album.
