is this just another
typical london band? or worth seeing live?
I enjoyed their
set at our DiS night in April. I think they are an acquired taste though, as I know of some that didn't.
I think they're a terrible band.
Really, really awful. They come across as a watered-down safe mainstream version of an edgy exciting band. Sort of like they want to be Nick Cave-ish but don't have the guts to push the envelope.
They're not neccesarily a 'typical' London band but they're not worth seeing live either. There's so many better bands out there so just don't waste your time.
That really is
A lame argument, they are just a new band starting to find thier sound and I think its an exciting and unusual one too. Perhaps when they've been around as long as Nick Cave, and theguywithnousername (who I suspect is far too old to be offering a valid opinion on any new band)then we can consider whether they really 'pushed the envelope'. Until then, why don't we all wait until they've at least put out some music before the obligatory DiS slagging begins.
OK
a) Thinking someone can be "far too old" to offer a valid opinion on a new band is silly
b) I'm 25 so hardly to old.
c) How is it a lame argument? I saw them live and those were my thoughts. The bottom line is I don't think they aren't very good. They're definitely not exciting. And as much as they're trying to be unusual and interesting, it comes across as far too contrived to be effective.
that was a lame argument
the whole old thing is a really lame argument to hold against someone when judging new bands.
but...
ox eagle lion man are well worth seeing live. they might not be the finished product but they are fascinating to watch, both as a band constantly growing and improving as a real talent but also as great entertainers.
Too old to be offering a valid opinion on any new band
Whilst I don't share theguywithnousername's opinion on OELM, can someone please enlighten me as to what the age limits and restrictions are on being able to hold a valid opinion on new music please?
It's
15
I saw them support...
...These New Puritans at The Fav in Leeds and was pleasantly suprised...especially as I was never partial to Les Inc. The tunes on myspace are pretty good too...
