Glassjaw confirm 'reunion' show
Posted:
...although if you've never properly broken up, does it still count as a reunion show? Anyway...
New York post-hardcore outfit Glassjaw - truly a favourite rock act at the DiSopolis, even to this day - are to perform in Connecticut on December 31 as part of the Stillborn Fest.
The band - the exact line-up of which is uncertain right now, as Todd Weinstock, Dave Allen, and Larry Gorman left the band in '04 with Weinstock forming Men, Women And Children a little later - will play alongside the likes of Hatebreed and Overcast at the two-day festival. Frontman-cum-lynchpin and sometime Head Automatica singer Darryl Palumbo has hinted that new material may be released in 2007.
More details will almost certainly appear in due course at the band's crecently reactivated website, here.
Seriously, just how good is/was Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence? Very, that's how good. More on the Stillborn Fest here.

Have
Glassjaw ever actually played a gig in the UK?
Darryl seems to get ill every time they come over, lets hope hes got that problem sorted out. I want to see them. -
He's got
Crohn's disease... how do you get that sorted out? lol
-
I
don't know, 'cause I don't know what Crohn's disease is. Does that make me stupid?
-
'Worship and Tribute' was better
CONTROVERSIAL.
-
*Giggle*
Just as I expected...
-
The lyrics are better.
Musically 'Everything...' is the better album though. The lyrics turn me off the album a little bit now but it's still really amazing and changed my musical direction pretty heavily.
-
It was better though
Great news
-
Yes they've played the UK
I saw them. The tour was cancelled first time around but they replayed some dates (including notts). Apparently it was originally a sell-out but the place was half-empty for the second date. They were good live too; although someone needed to ramp up the volume.
-
See...
"W&S" changed my musical direction pretty heavily...hence why I consider it to be their better album. It means more to me.
Horses for courses, though..
-
yep
they played with deftones at brixton, prob about 2002, good gig
-
Oh shit
I didn't realise all those members had left!? Thought it was just Todd. Really not expecting much, the Glassjaw we knew is pretty much dead I guess.
-
Who cares
if Todd left, MANNY FUCKING CARRERO is still very much a member of the band (although, granted, he is in Saves The Day as well). I seriously hope they get some new material going, even if it's unlikely they'll tour here.
-
this news doesnt excite me
I can't see glassjaw doing anything....ever....which is hugely upsetting.
oh and 'worship and tribute' is insanely better than 'everything you wanted...'
in fact, it makes 'everything...' look slightly silly
-
i saw...
head automatica in someone's back garden at sxsw this year. emo meets funk?? you betcha... fumo???
anyway. i like both albums but the drums and bass sound better on the first one, whereas everything else sounds better on the second. damn your inconsistency, ross robinson... -
...
really hope Daryl's Crohn's doesn't flare up again while he's tour and that they actually make it over for a London gig, I think I still have the ticket for their last 2 rounds of cancelled shows at the Astoria.

gj
there website is funny, they seem to be touring around december in the us!
http://www.merchdirect.net/smtweverydaysafashionexplosion
this suggests so!
-
shit out your intestines
and use rubber piping instead!?!
-
w&t
was Way better
-
don't blame ross
sammy seigler drummed on the first record and he's skill.
on the second record drum parts were written by Gorman but played by Shannon Larkin from Amen, and rather than have a dedicated bassist Justin Beck did the bass as well - probably more focused on his guitar parts...
if they'd had Seigler and a regualr bassist then W&T would probably own on that front too...

kiss kiss bang bang
back in my youth - i was lucky enough to win a competition for kerrang to go and interview gjaw at nottingham rock city on the worship and tribute tour. both me and my bro like the excited ferrets we were, scuttled along and among others got to meet gjaw/hang out with them for a bit and listen to them soundcheck. it was one of the most bizarre incidents of my life. we got shunted into some back room where it took the band an eternity to turn up and when they did, it was obvious from this early stage that this was a band truly divided. i have met the likes of muse, who were lovely fellas! whereas to be frank gjaw, were wankers - daryl was nice enough, but beck was an absolute tit, they just seemed so materialistic, and were keener to talk to us about NOT buying FAKE merchandise outside but instead being flogged for their gear inside. they were sharp with each other and seemed to have no passion for the music, i was massively disappointed - also in the soundcheck they quarelled quarelled, i thought i was half expecting that lanky penis that is billy corgan to make an appearance!
but anyhow, despite their arrogance/cockyness gjaw were shit hot live-boy can that guy sing.i love gjaw and everything you wanted to know about silence and also worship and tribute are fantastic albums....but i feel this is most certainly a band who have lost its way and need to take their ny heads out of their asses!
that is all -
i interviewed beck
i think, like 4 years ago, and he was really nice. but it was on the phone....hmm...
anyway, w&t>eyewtkas

They did tour...back in tha day
I saw Glassjaw at the Garage in Glasgow supporting Soulfly along with earthtone9. Glassjaw were the reason I went and they were amazing, I still have the grey hoodie I bought at the gig and that was like 2000/2001. Darryl and the earthtone9 singer came onstage during Soulfly's set and sang 'Pain'. If im not mistaken Darryl sang Grady Avernell's (Will Haven) part. It was an emmense night. Soulfly were terrible though.
Oh and yeah, I think Glassjaw played the whole tour that time, it was their first and only full UK tour they completed from start to finish.

get in
this has made my day.
-
my mate did that too...
...his name was Whit.
I would love to see them.
-
Cosmopolitan Blood Loss
Jesus, I haven't heard that song in AGES.
-
yes they have...
the only time i have ever seen them was supporting soulfly in 2000 i think it was and it was one of the greatest gigs i have ever been to...let's just hope their Brixton show goes ahead as planned...fingers crossed
