Oasis reveal the Truth

Stop the world! Oasis have confirmed the track listing for their sixth studio album, Don’t Believe The Truth, which is due to be released on May 30th (as previously reported here). The first single from the album will be ‘Lyla’ released on May 16th. Noel Gallagher describes the track as “the Soundtrack Of Our Lives doing The Who on Skol in a psychedelic city in the sky (or something!).” Whatever that means. He then goes on to say “‘Part Of The Queue’ doesn’t sound remotely like anything we’ve ever done before, while ’The Meaning Of Soul’ is simply Elvis on Red Bull”. Hmmmm.

The full tracklisting is as follows:

Turn Up The Sun
Mucky Fingers
Lyla
Love Like A Bomb
The Importance Of Being Idle
The Meaning Of Soul
Guess God Thinks I’m Abel
Part Of The Queue
Keep The Dream Alive
A Bell Will Ring
Let There Be Love

In the meantime, expect the servers of Kazaa, Grokster and Soulseek to be inundated and rocked to their foundations as every chav and his burberry clad mongrel tries to dig up the first scent of the above before their neighbours. Knowotamean?

Oasis reveal the Truth

he says that . . . but i bet it sounds exactly the same as all their other albums exactly the same

Re: Oasis reveal the Truth

Time Out said this, which I thought was apt:

It'd be great if it was great, but depressingly predictable if it was depressingly predictable.

Oasis reveal the Truth

"keep The Dream Alive" "Let there Be Love" - you can't even make up titles as bad as this - can someone PLEASE stop this band from happening

Oasis reveal the Truth

I'd love to think that they could make a decent record again finally... but these song titles sound so 'Paul Weller'/'Real Music'-brigade that it's going to be a load of boring tosh again, isn't it? "The Meaning of Soul"? Uh-oh.

Oasis reveal the Truth

Yeah, be nice if Noel Gallagher's gradiose assesment of his own tunes rang true for once, but it's almost inevitable that it'll sound like a pub band doing Oasis...

Oasis reveal the Truth

they should "believe the truth": They're really irrelevant

Oasis reveal the Truth

'keep the dream alive'? 'let there be love'?

give me pretentious bollocks anyday over this.

-Zool, trying desperately to withold judgement, and failing completely.

Oasis reveal the Truth

"Guess God Thinks I’m Abel"

As in 'able'? I hope for their sakes they're being ironic.

Oasis reveal the Truth

I'm sure Noel won't let us all down!!

It'll be another over produced Chav fest for sure!!!

Oasis reveal the Truth

Well, I saw that Oasis was in the news again and was already preparing to defend 'em 'til I read the names of the tracks for their upcoming album. What can I say? Atleast I can expect that the songs will be great...compared to their titles!

Oasis reveal the Truth

guess god thinks im a bell......
would love oasis to make a good album, but im not hopefull

Re: Oasis reveal the Truth

"Whats a chav ??Whats it got to do with oasis though?"

Get yourself down to the City Of Manchester stadium this summer mate and see for yourself.

Re: Oasis reveal the Truth

I think the Oasis/Kasabian types are what you'd call weekend chavs, like your warm-weather crusties that go to Glastonbury but spend the rest of the year in wine bars and theme pubs.

Oasis reveal the Truth

They should have given up after Definitely Maybe then they could have left a debut album legacy like The LAs or Jeff Buckley.

Oasis reveal the Truth

is this band really still newsworthy??

Re: Oasis reveal the Truth

Im glad they didnt though, regardless of their music the gallaghers will always entertain me, there's something technicolor about the way in which they are cunts that elevates them to greatness whenever they play live in a mood (Leeds 2000, for e.g), plus the old b-sides are mint too, and frankly, there's usually two tunes per new album that are solid enough to compete with the old stuff

what they should have done is left at least three years between morning glory and be here now, tack the best six tunes from that album, (plus stay young, same era, and the most pop thing they've done i reckon,) plus three from standing (i'll argue for bushes... go let it out and roll it over) and you have an album which stands up against morning glory.

To me Oasis at their best (Defo Def Maybe) were like the pistols crossed with the beatles fronted by george best, which I'm appreciating. Regardless of the backing, when the gallaghers are on form, theyre fantastic headliners for a festival (as i'll have usually seen the stuff Im listening too at the time earlier in the day, and seeing bona fide popstars who I like cap's it off)

Oasis reveal the Truth

Why do people keep saying 'chav'? Just get to your snobby point and say "poorer and/or less educated than me."

As for Oasis, I used to love them but after Morning Glory they lost the plot. They can still write a good tune on occasion. Lyrically, they are rubbish. But so are most bands.
