Sheffield post-rock sky scrapers Lyca Sleep return next month with a new single and tour.
'Closer In', their second release for Genepool Records, is due to hit the shops on Monday 25th April. Available on both CD and limited edition 12 inch vinyl, the single features three additional new songs spread across the two formats including live favourite 'Inches Of Air'.
The band also head out on tour from the start of April, calling in at:-

is that the one they always play fer soundcheck n shit? i think thats probs the best live song. along with the instrumental intro one.
shall definately be at the Town mill, 'opefully they'll get a better crowd than Sennen did.

Thats the one.
Thing about the Sennen show was that it was really short notice and they were on far too early. I couldn't get there myself for that reason, although I'm led to believe they will be playing Nottingham soon.

yeh i noticed that the other day. 'little girl lost'. sennen and corleone are real ace, and sennen have made leaps and bound in the last year or so.

thats true about the Mill gig, was only advertised about a week before so couldnt get many people to go.
I thought that Inches Of Air would be the head track of their next release. i was talkin to guitarist when they supported Ludes at NME club n that was their general feeling.

yeh, tracklisting is 'i couldnt tell you', 'its not like it used to be/one and the same thing' and 'widows'. the 2nd/3rd one is the trippy Godspeed-esque one with the siren like guitars. 'i couldnt tell you' is probably my favourite of theirs.

'Closer in' is not just the finest best single of the year, it's one of the finest songs of the last five years. Catch them on this tour 'cos it's the last time you'll see them in such small venues.

i hope so sean, the last five times the band played the mill i have said that. the guys are ace (well guitarist n drummer are, haven't talked to the others) and they have some really awesome songs. Hopefully this release will show the critics they are more than just Verve rip-offs (as most people have just heard 'Sold Me A Ride')
oh and Dom, im reviewing the gig fer Sandman so expect competition and Wacky Races style antics. or just expect me to be drunk

It's probably worth a post on hear that 'Lyca Sleep' are 'rumoured' to be playing the Mansfield Town Mill on Monday 27th March, possibly another gig of theirs has been cancelled? (please take this with a pinch of salt guys, I'm waiting for Dom to confirm this dodgy info!!)
Anyway, I've also heard that this is in addition to their gig in the Mill on 2nd May 2005.

i spoke to a good friend at the venue, and they said the band were put on the list for the festival (was a weekend festival for cancer awareness) before they were asked, so on some posters 'lyca sleep' was put on. i was gonna go anyway but i thought it was unlikely they were gonna play between two crap local punk bands, after gettin to number 85 in the charts :)
and i thought the gig was on 1st May? glad it isnt tho, couldnt get many to go down with bank holiday buses running. have to get over 19 people to see the sleep (what i managed fer Sennen)

yeh, i mate of mine is quite into you guys, hes gonna try n get to gig but might be clashing with work he says.
im not usual into yr sort of stuff but i think havin a day of stuff in the style of lyca sleep would be quite borin, a variety is best to get new peeps into the music too.
