Dr Drakes closes
One of the UK’s best loved small venues, and hub of the Aberdeen music scene, Dr Drakes, has been forced to close.
Sharon from the venue filled DiS in: "It was just a really hard business decision. Now was the ONLY time we could get out of the lease if we wanted to, and if the business had gone under [we] would have been liable for rent for the next seven years!
"It wasn't an easy decision by any means, it had been coming for a while but we just kept on ploughing on hoping it would get better, but we were just never making enough money, and never seeming to be able to get out of a hole. So that's it, there are no secret new venues up our sleeves I'm afraid."

This is really sad. It was such a good l'il venue and always treated bands perfectly. Hopefully the venue about 10 yards opposite will take over.

The Tunnels? Where's that then?

RIP Dr Drakes. It's probably my favourite small venue in the UK and I've had some great nights in there. The staff were all super friendly and the place had a great jukebox.
is the venue going to become a lapdancing club again then?
