Belle and Sebastian have been voted the ‘Best Scottish Band of All Time’ by Scottish music fans...
The poll was produced by Scottish magazine, The List after they nominated the top 50 Scottish bands of all time.
Band leader Stuart Murdoch said: ‘We don’t think for a moment that we are the best band in Scotland, but we are thrilled to be on a list with some of our favourite artists like Teenage Fanclub and the Cocteau Twins. I think it says more about the fans than it does about us. We have a very loyal fan base. We’re absolutely delighted.’

To be honest, I think Biffy Clyro are under-appreciated, but in a way that is of their own doing. There is some cracking b-sides by them that half MTV2 leeching-world never see.

I'd guess online voting. I think most bands had links of their websites saying "vote for us here".
And I think Belle and Sebastian would have more fans that would do that. Presumably the online voting wasn't restricted to scotland, in which case they'd have won easily.

I do love Belle & Sebastian. Also nice to see Trashcan Sinatras sneak into Top 30, and The Vaselines get a nod. How did Pish sneak in there, though? :(
Idlewild did pretty well considering they made one good album (Hope Is Important), then went completely shite. I suppose they'll get into the top 10 in 20 years' time, in their capacity as the new Simple Minds.

You'll all be jumping on the bandwagon of how good they were now, and I'll be able to distance myself from you all, go in a petulant huff and disown the band as crap.
