another tip top evening of quality programming from what must be Britain's best TV channel, surely?
everyone knows tv is crap. that's why we come on here instead :-D
and i was watching some of it.
the premise of most of the programmes seem to be "THIS IS SO TRUE" before they have a lot of "experts" who just tear his work apart.
for not having a dan brown book between my paws then?
i just realised who you meant.
The new Harry Potter? Heh.
in my experience, people on tubes are far too "involved" in their Dan Brown "thrillers" to even notice that I'm reading something more "interesting".
and two people sat opposite each other were both reading dan brown books and that was just weird - I looked over to see if the other person was reading 'The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit' just to see if it was 'protocol' to sit opposite people with similar tastes and they were reading mixmag. so clearly not then.
with all these "experts" passing of their own opinions as fact, which is why you have books debunking the da vinci code and then books trying to prove those books wrong, its a farce
it's like a whole cottage industry. It makes me sick.
he's never read the the book because it would do his health no good.
but i thought he was upstaged by the bloke who looked like he should be in a prog rock band
convince me to read The Da vinci Code but I keep refusing out of principle. I just don't know what the principle is...
Is the book as bad as it looks? It just sounds/looks absolute crap!
the content is crap, and it's incredibly badly written. blatantly full of lies despite disclaimers that its all true, awful awful grammar, terrible characterisation, etc etc. it's as stereotypical as indiana jones but it's not as fun.
He can fuck right off, then!
(minus some truly hideous clichés) but badly excuted. Had an editor actually gone over it (plainly no one has done that task) it would have been better.
The film will probably be enjoyable. After all, it'll have slashed away the irritating literary 'style' of Brown to leave only a plot, and then has Ron Howard directing and some absolutely great acting talent.
When I say enjoyable I'm thinking 'better than The Mummy and Tomb Raider', mind...
if you're not, it's not. as theo says, fairly decent plot. and that shouldn't be overlooked. the writing isn't that annoying if you're a fast reader because it won't take long to finish.
