I had a very productive weekend and I'm feeling very positive today.
How are you?
But am otherwise fine.
Got a busy week ahead: Wales today, London Tuesday and Wednesday then back to Birmingham. Currently sitting in a huge traffic jam on the M42....
typed out a tl;dr about work. summary: they're just tossers.
i have next week off so this week will mostly be a countdown to that. wife's birthday on wednesday, fiercest football derby match in the world (Brentford v Fulham) on Friday, couple of other bits and pieces - pretty pumped for this week, once you discount the work shite.
My weekend was fairly productive went to cinema twice and saw Interstellar on Friday and The Drop yesterday. Both were entertaining.
Also bought a winter coat but when I went to put it on yesterday I saw the tag had been left on so now I need to find time to go back to Oxford Street and get it take off. Annoying.
Then watched The Skin I'm In, which was good, if a bit disturbing.
Sunday, climbed, then watched a couple of episodes of Dexter in the bath.
May have to fly all the way to Minneapolis for one meeting this Thursday. #carbonfootprint
Weekend was good, not spectacular but it rarely is. Had a friend to stay on Friday and Saturday night; went to Cambridge Saturday, mooched round the shops (entertainment included a fairy on stilts, Santa, a "penguin cave", a sax quartet called Simple Reeds, a choir... I'm wondering what it's going to be like a week before Christmas?)... went to Byron for the first time, like the Johnny-Come-Lately that I am (it was pretty nice, yeah).
Thewarn watch: didn't see thewarn this morn.
Yesterday I cycled all the way to the Olympic Park when I wasn't feeling entirely well and now I feel properly ill so I'm at home feeling sorry for myself today. Gonna drink tea and read comics all day I think.
Quite tired but have superfood salads and a smoothie to revive me.
Watching second season of Utopia at long last, thoroughly enjoying it.
No big plans for the week, but going to Paris on Saturday morning. That should be fun.
ran to work this morning, god i'm tired.
Was thinking this morning that I've only got seven weeks left in this country and i didn't sleep much due to it.
Running in on a Monday is hugely commendable. Feel the glow, yo.
ta, been too long. Needed though. Not too much difference between that and the tube, plus i need to buy some lights for my bike so don't want to cycle in then cycle home without lights. i now feel like i have the POWER.
Only been to New York the once but needless to say I'm hugely envious - I've been on a lot of trips and thought 'I'd love to do that again' but New York's probably the only time I've said 'I could live there'. We were looking quite seriously about heading there for mrs FS to sit the bar at one point. Good on you and good luck - you got a fixed amount of time or is this quite an open ended thing?
God I need to start running again. Did the Brighton marathon 2 1/2 years ago and have been out about 3 times since!
will see what happens. Just such a good vibe about the city. Can't wait.
do it man! I used to do a few long distance, got out of the habit and now it just hurts..5.6k in about 30-odd minutes i think? Need to get the gears turning again.
Relentless eating festival for the best part of it, interspersed with the last flooring being fitted in the gaff and then yesterday building a huge cabinet system thing in the cupboard under the stairs for our ridiculous CD and vinyl(s) collection. Am also quite happy cause I'm officially off me meds and haven't had too many side effects.
Got a fairly huge day ahead at work, looking forward to breaking it up with some lunch time driving range action.
- daughter's eczema seems to be clearing up
- chartership seems to be in the bag, got the email saying it's going to the election panel in dec
- puncture repair kit worked (so far) but i really really want my bike to come in now thanks
- this week wife and i have our fast food cheat day! KFC! McD breakfast! yayaya
but I'm wearing a suit though. Suit makes everything better
that's bad isn't it
Is this 'taking it easy'?
I also just did a tally of what I actually ate over Saturday and Sunday. A co-op sandwich and 2 mini microwave pizzas
I also did many many stupid and regrettable things. Apparently I should be writing a book about my exploits because, I quote, "these sort of things don't happen to normal people."
Don't really know what to do.
"FRIDAY: on Friday you must eat a Boost
Gonna spend all day uploading my photos to dropbox.
that will mildly irk people in the future
It was incredible. The best thing i've seen since they had the Hockney exhibition there, and maybe even a little better. Will definitely be going back before it ends.
its driving me up the wall. This constant negativity, finding fault in everything. Its like they LOVE talking about her and how rubbish she is. They've been sitting by my desk talking about crap for half an hour now. Its driving me up the wall as its the same thing every hour or so, every single day. B O R E D ! So i'm blaring future islands into my head.
Yesterday my housemate cooked us all an AMAZING dinner. Cullen Skink, beef wellington with cabbage and greens. Deeeeeelliisshh! I love where I live SO MUCH m so majorly happy!
questioning them on it? If I see it happening with any if my crew about someone I try to get them to look at it from another point of view. At least they'll know that their opinion and constant voicing of it is grating on you, might make 'em shut up.
Cullen skink for the win.
it brings me down. Yes, i feel the same as they do but I really can't hear the same conversations over and over and over again. I've just started being really open about my disdain for it but putting my headphones on as soon as they start. They've stopped now. That was a good hour.
and hold it up in front of your face whenever they start doing it
for a laugh. hahahaha. They still sell CDs there and there is still a meat auction.
day off, I'm going to a mortgage broker out of curiosity, expect to come away with no hope
Pleasantly surprised. There's a fuck-tonne of doom mongering around this subject but there's usually a lot of options out there, more so now than in the last few years I reckon.
yeah it was alright, seems like the halifax still through money at people now I just need that pesky deposit
Get saving, yo!
as I had some ridic stomach pains which kept me awake all night, should have just called in sick but there's so much to do.
Great weekend, went to the world press photo exhibition, watched horns which I thought was surprisingly good or maybe I'm just a sucker for po-faced horror/romance and ate pizza.
Also watched UFC 180 which was pretty brilliant, never thought I'd see either Werdum or Hunt in title contention but they're both killin' it right now.
had a family party, went to work and spent hours looking after dogs and stuff and went to a tea party
today my boyfriend's off work and wants to go out so i'm going out
was gonna take a dog for a walk but that depends on what time i get back from going out
if anyone else wants a dog walked in the walker/byker area give is a shout i'm well getting into taking dogs for walks
day off today, going to fix my phone which I dropped on its face :(
so pleased I booked today off, a lot of my body is in pain.
Friday - Truckfighters/White Miles/Witch Rider. Top gig.
Saturday - went to see The Drop, was great
Sunday - saw some people pull a fire engine through town. Went to that London again to see Kerbdog, met xylopwn, spoke to Frank Turner and shouted lyrics to a late 90s grunge rock masterpiece at some Irish men.
And WHY was I not informed earlier?
I barely even moved this weekend, had back-to-back nights of over 10 hours of sleep. I feel like a KING.
but can't remember when I had my last period and I'm worried its due and ill get it while I'm in the pool. Was hoping one of you has been stalking me and maybe taking note of me complaining about my period pains? I think it was last month when I had a coldsore in my eye. Started on a Saturday morning.
Up most the night anxiously going over in my head how i would react to being burgled. I've never been burgled or had a home broken into in my life and I live in a secure area of Manchester city centre. Fucking hell i'm exhausted, my head was swimming.
To calm myself I'm buying some dark curtains later and backing up all my photos/music to the external HD again. Then hiding it somewhere. God I'm a loon.
Played a great gig in Richmond on Saturday night and went to see Iron & Wine last night, so a very musical weekend.
Wish it were Sunday today.
Cant believe what time it is. Done nothing of use this morning. Had a progress meeting with the manager who said I was a bully and arrogant a few weeks ago. All went swimmingly and I was out after 10 minutes when others were in for 2+ hours. J-Dogg is back in the motherfucking game. Got a daylight lamp yesterday and its changed my life. Painted up a dunedain and got 14 hobbits to do for January. Also, a babe came round last night and we watched nightmare on elm street (Ive got the entire box set and we're pencilled in for NoES2 tonight) and she was too scared to go home so I had to sleep on the floor :s
Why did you have to sleep on the floor?
but it seemed a bit........sleazy to just get in the bed.
the guy I was with to, you know, do me.
You've missed a trick here.
In her position I'd cancel tonight. You'd better get in quick with a text saying something like "Sorry about last night, I will totally bang you this evening".
I've sent the text. Now time to sit back and let the magic happen
My work place has moved down to South Bank - the sea containers, we're on the 5th floor and there's the balcony that looks out to the WHOLEof London. It's absolutely beautiful! I love it hear, lots of different floors full of different companies and have they have events and stuff here.
The scary part is there's beer on tap all day, 24/7 and it's free. How does this happen? Its amazing here. So nice to be near the Thames. Does anyone work near me? I' near the BFI - whoop!
Think I need to stop drinking for a bit
i full of sadness today however! :(
(feel better L-P)
cheers ed, i will soon no doubt (hopefully), but i/we (me and my ex) complicated things this weeken.
Is it possible to complicate things in a good way?!
Especially if it's a full weekend of 'complication' on not just one evening? Even then...
but i can't help but think about the massive potential pitfalls ahead?!?! :(
maybe i should not worry about that and just enjoy the fact i had an amazing weekend with my favourite person.
With my total lack of info of course. Can you avoid things going the way they did last time?
there's still a lot bubbling under right enough from last time and sometimes that rears its head. maybe we should just have a proper cards on the table chat?!
in saying that with her work and my work right now we're not gonna get a chance to do that for a good while.
i absolutely fucking adore her!
Fingers crossed that it can work out. Hopefully the time you're talking about before getting a chance to talk to her properly will give you some room to know what's right. Sounds like you already know though :)
was in a drum and bass club til 5am on Friday night and then ended up in the same one til 3am on Saturday night after getting really drunk at a grotty metal bar in Nottingham. realised i'm much more comfortable in places like that than at indie gigs or general social gatherings. should've figured it out five years ago. met an Italian girl called Veronica. I like that name.
someone tried to steal my new coat.
its not a place I'd have normally gone I guess, but I had a lot of fun. moreso than just standing around listening to indie music at the chameleon or whatever.
thats putting aside drum and bass as well. I fucking HATE that place. Still rather go there than the chameleon tbf
BTW I've noticed we have a mutrual acquaintaince KH. Shes from my hometown and went out with a pal of mine. Only met her once tbh tbf but thought it was worth mentioning
he was either in the swarm or friends with the swarm, unless you're talking about a different guy, which I guess you could be.
really like KH. we went to Stealth together a few weeks ago actually. I was dressed as Hulk Hogan for Halloween. know her through the Haiku Salut lot.
preferred going out to techno, D&B, electro, dubstep, whatever clubs. any dance clubs really. atmosphere was always that much more electric. I still prefer the music of indie & metal clubs, but for going out to I should have sacked off the sullen cliques of floor-sitters long before I did.
NB. none of this is 100% strictly true of every occasion, but enough for me to convert it to sweeping generalisation.
NB 2 - this was between the years 1999-2010
got shin splints. not amused at all. they constantly hurt. have to walk up 5 flights of stairs at work to get to my office. Owww.
did make bbq ribs, fries & slaw though so that was good.
Have you seen someone about 'em?
Things like this on the internet make me very nervous:
“Pain is most severe at the start of a run, but may disappear during a run, as the muscles loosen up. This is different to a stress fracture, where there is pain during weight bearing activities (walking, stair-climbing)”
I have been in constant pain all weekend. Should I see a doctor?
Willing it not to be skeletal. That should be enough to make them go away, right?
Try and see a physio. You'll need to rest it for sure, but chances are it's probs not skeletal and hopefully you can find a way to avoid it happening again. I was worried when I got 'em and then we found out it was because one of my legs is like 1/2 inch longer than the other one - got a couple of inserts of funky foam stuff for the heel of my shoes (which I now always use) and voila, it was A-OK. But I never would have known if I hadn't gone to my (highly eccentric) professional.
ran up too many hills after too long a period on the flat and a two week break from running before that. too much strain too quickly. At least I have been given an insight into my limits now. I just hope I am not out of action for too long. I could make an appointment with soemone to find out how long that will be.
I do need new shoes, the ones I ran in this week are dead. I have got new shoes, but haven't worn them this week because the weather has been awful and I didn't want to ruin them (or run too long a distance in them box-fresh)
Plus thinking "ah it's not so bad" and gunning it until it hurts all the time. Physio at our council leisure centre didn't cost a fortune when Mrs FS had to go there, that might be a way to keep the cost down.
Shoes are gonna get rinsed either way, get stuck in there (when it isn't killing, obvs) :)
but the puddles were up to my ankles.
going to start checking out doctors & physios and things now. also, ice-packs and rest. haven't sat down all weekend which hasn't helped. going to have to enforce it (although I have to go away for work for 2 days of meetings, which won't help)
Even if the news isn't what you want you're still better off being armed with the info. Good luck with it buddy.
USB stick's gone walkies. Phone is still a piece of crap.
mainly doing house work, but i popped out to play trombone on on a record that i'll probably jag a bit in a few weeks and also i made this 10 minute long synth piece and put videos of dogs on top of it
Back off holiday. Fuck Work. Fuck Leicester
man Leicester is such an awful place. you're right
then i got blue paint over a child. then i drilled holes in things and sawed up some wood all afternoon.
Now going to dive headfirst into all this freelance work that's mounting up. Going for some Vietnamese streetfood later, then off to watch the other half's mum doing some talk about her clitoris.
Pink Jelly Bean is not appealing, frankly it's rather disturbing.
What gives pencils?
It's all the rage, ahem, "down there".
Now Christmas shopping in Stratford and it's quiet coz it's Monday yesssssssss
All I have accomplished today is watching the entire of Brooklyn Nine Nine season 1
i wrote this, about sandwiches http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/features/christmas-sandwiches-2014-ranking-the-best-of-the-high-street-offerings-9865036.html
For gluttons like me - which sandwich fills you up the most?
'laconic almost apologetic attempt at a sandwich'
makes it into the best sandwich category.
120 km (or around 75 miles) round trip out to see some prehispanic ruins called Guachimontones. Excellent! Tired as shit now.
