the internet (via www.xmasclock.com ) tells me it's only 65 days until Christmas. how do you feel about that?
it is the middle half of october, after all
now that's settled, we can all talk about our weekends
so naturally it was filled to the brim with stuff
- friday; took my baby to a book bug club but it was off, so instead we drove to get her a passport photo, then it signed by my polis friend, and then grabbed a subway on the way. then i walked around victoria park with the pram and listened to rage against the machine.
- saturday; walked as a family with the dog into the local high street and did some pottering about. got a coffee and a crossiant. then bought bacon at the butchers. then had a visit from some pals.
- sunday; slept, mended the bike a bit, she laughed for the first time ever (!!!) and had a KFC for tea.
watched edge of tomorrow; 8/10, divergent; 7/10
Must have been something 'Wheely' funny (get it?)
Of another week at work.
Bring on Christmas, best time of the year.
It was pretty good thanks. mrs ccb's parents were staying so they babysat for us on Friday (out for pizza) and Saturday (friend's leaving party). Went for walks / trips out during the day.
Can't believe the clocks go back THIS WEEKEND :(
on a Monday to learn how to use computers properly thought it was YESTERDAY the clocks went back and when nobody turned up after 30 mins he decided to just lock up and go home! So I have a FREE DAY today!!!!!! Might go to the pier and see if they have refilled the claw machines with new plushies.
massively hungover, think i'm gonna get an overpriced and expensive breakfast on campus to try and be somewhat usable for the next 12 or so hours
Got a bit sloshed on Saturday night, continued to snooze more on Sunday/sell all of my shit on ebay. Little else to report, but feeling OK for a Monday.
when i'd given a pair of socks for Christmas and when I first wore them
They invited me over to a party on Saturday night, I got wasted, ate a load of cheese, threw up, passed out on one of the beds, woke up at 8am went home, received a message saying they would love me to live there!
My inability to handle alcohol has FINALLY paid off. The people are the LOVELIEST and so so much fun, we got on so well. I'm really gonna feel at home there <3
V V V V EXCITED.
well there will be as soon as I sign contract etc. Always worried it'll fall through (although both the girls have separately texted me to say they can't wait for me to move in!)
Hello Finsbury Park/Archway!
I'm in Archway too, it's great.
I'm really excited about moving there.
but I can't help reading it as a sarcastic response to NDS
sounds like you gave one hell of an interview!
it's all coming along meowington! :)
Friday: didn't do much apart from eat an amazing pizza we made and then fall asleep in front of the telly.
Saturday: mooched about a bit, found a veggie cafe I didn't know existed in East Dulwich, went to some charity shops, cooked a broccoli curry and then went to Modeselektor at the Troxy which was AMAZING. Amazed myself by not getting very drunk and also staying awake with ease until 6am. Got a taxi back and the driver turned up the 6am news REALLY loud which I wasn't impressed with.
Sunday: did absolutely nothing of note apart from cooked a nice dinner and read 50% of a book.
I think of books in terms of percentages now. THANKS KINDLE. THINDLE.
Just given up on something 64% of the way through a TERRIBLE sci-fi novel.
Was in Manchester all weekend for Carefully Planned, came straight to work this morning. Was fun, lots of good bands. Also think I saw #bikepaedo wandering about on Sunday morning, but wasn't sure enough to break character and say hello. Currently tired, hungover and unironed.
I'm nursing my midriff after overindulging at the weekend. Cake, burgers, wine, beer, scotch eggs and cheesecake were all on the menu. I might not eat for a few days just to restore equilibrium.
I will watch the Northern Soul film tonight, which I am super excited about.
Friday had drinks with two best friends one of whom lives in Ireland now and the other I don't see as much as we used to. Friend 1 asked me and friend 2 to be the best men at his wedding which is awesome and made me actually properly excited and happy.
Saturday we all went for brunch at some new place in Finsbury Park and had the largest breakfast burger I've even seen - burger, egg, bacon, pulled pork and a sausage. Didn't have to eat much for the rest of the day.
Then we went to an architecture photography exhibition at the Barbican which was interesting.
Sunday I saw '71 at the cinema which is very bleak and tense had a really good sense of place.
while seeing a friend and his 6 month old little fella. Would highly recommend the Rascal Bay crazy golf to anyone in the Brentwood area. Then had the gf's parents round for dinner.
Sunday climbed indoors with a couple of friends then watched TV.
Friday - Winged Victory For the Sullen in a church which was pretty lovely.
Saturday - Games and wine night with some friends, was massively tempered by friend receiving some really bad news pretty early in the evening.
Sunday - Fixed bike, tried to cook oxtail (pretty much a fail), but dinner rescued by lovely mash/veg/sauce. Watched more Twin Peaks.
Didn't sleep overly well and now very tired and finding motivation an issue.
Feel too tired to drive back to Norwich.
That bodes well, doesn't it.
kacking it a bit.
My parents have persuaded me not to move to the caribbean, at least not for another year- kind of depends on the job chat I have at 10 and some money stuff I'm trying to figure out.
My sister got engaged! And got the keys to her new house which is gorgeous.
Had drinks last night with some friends of mine (brothers) whose mum died last week. It was so devastating to see them so upset and trying to be strong- made me have a really good think about what matters in life. I need to start living a bit more.
My trainee has called in sick, I am so jealous of her.
Amazing! Congrats to her :)
she's really happy. she hasn't asked me to be bridesmaid yet thought. At what point is it reasonable for me to go all verucca salt about this?
and it wasn't even that scary. I might go home for a snooze now.
Got a bit to do before then but naturally I'm just chilling with a coffee and dis until it's time to start panicking about it. The only way to do it really.
Think I've pretty much finished it now though!
Two things happened:
1) Thurston Moore was there. As he walked past he turned to me and said my GG Allin t-shirt was cool. (Thanks again to Meow for buying me that).
2) When answering a question about The Fall he started talking about other bands he likes. He said "you won't believe me, but I fucking love Status Quo. Mr Rossi is king of the ravers." Now, Lydon was already held pretty high in my estimation, but with this it went through the roof. Even if he wasn't quite right: Rick Parfitt is in fact the lead raver in that band.
He pointed at it and smiled, but when he opened his mouth to speak all that came out was a wall of amplified white noise.
is probably a bellend?
I'm not trying to belittle that
the bit where they ask him what he thinks about vivian westwood :'')
Went out for my first night out in ages, and repeated it the day after! First time I've seen 4am without falling asleep in ages.
Friday: a friend came over for the weekend and we went out for food here: http://www.stickywings.com/StickyWings.com/StickyWings.html We then went out in Shoreditch, which was shocking levels of bad, so headed back south and had an amazing late night in Camberwell.
Saturday: Mooched around in Peckham, then headed to Islington for a friend's birthday meal and night out in Dulwich, which was all kinds of fun.
Sunday: woke up LATE. Did some shopping. made amazing fish meal, BED
Had a super relaxing weekend - it was needed. Though did wake up with another migraine on Saturday morning, which wasn't great. I think my stress levels aren't very good which is mainly when I get them.
and and fairy tale of new york came, I considered skipping but just left it on.
and was way out of my depth. it was awful.
when I left them I had a further four miles to get home and I think I averaged about 6 miles an hour weeping all the way.
Still on for the Tour de France ride next year, yeah?!
How far/where did you go?
Miles and miles.
I just need a bit more training. A bit out of practice. I'll be fine.
I'm not sure you're ready...
I can't think in kilometers like some sort of frenchman/pervert.
Miles and miles * 1.56
Super pro cyclists measure their rides in kilometers.
To do the TdF ride, you also have to have read The Rules (and follow them to the letter): http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/
"Rule #24 // Speeds and distances shall be referred to and measured in kilometers.
This includes while discussing cycling in the workplace with your non-cycling coworkers, serving to further mystify our sport in the web of their Neanderthalic cognitive capabilities. As the confused expression spreads across their unibrowed faces, casually mention your shaved legs. All of cycling’s monuments are measured in the metric system and as such the English system is forbidden."
Partied through til 8pm yesterday then passed out in my bed until it was morning. Serotonin levels are completely shot.
*not mine, there used to be a metal band called this
Thei and I cried in the pub about how much we love you. Like we actually did that.
Cycled a bit. I'm done with shared cycle/pedestrian paths. Cunts with their dogs off the leash can do one. I'd rather take my chances with cars and buses.
Played some awesome new board games.
cba with work. Currently 60% full moker and rising.
Top lip yesterday, now the bottom. Am I getting Parkinsons?
Good weekend, had some nice pizza 🍕 saw a brilliant flamenco dance 💃 performance at the barbican, 🚴 cycled around a lot, made a roast 🐷. Tired.
gonna be on all day because the pc/scanner is really slow
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
(i have a dilemma, I've just been sick in my bin, do I shove it under my desk or go and flush it. Or put it in next door's office.)
especially if you can bring a clean one back
nominated for the ice bucket challenge and didn't do it.
all 3 jeans are split now. i might go to primark and buy some more and also make my way through https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%22you+will+cry%22
you can see my pants but nothing more
these jeans have got chocolate on the bum too and the front leg so i need new ones anyway
Fri: saw Maybeshewill. had a few beers.
Sat: saw Modeselektor. luckily got in early, some people were queuing for over an hour for entry. went by myself and put a mate of a mate I'd only met once before. Got on really well with all his mates. Might finally have someone to go to more electronic stuff in London with.
Sunday: hungover and very tired. went to bed early.
it was almost as if they weren't letting people in for some reason. then it started raining and mysteriously the queue went down.
go to the gym (been finding it quite hard to breathe and been getting headaches and stuff but hopefully it'll be ok)
claim my free weekly coffee from paperchase
go to a volunteer info session at the scottish r.e-f.u.g. e/e. c.o'u.n/s.e*l, hopefully gonna volunteer there one day a week. also gonna volunteer with maggies.
And I've realised that Eric the Double totally nailed me.
I went to see Happy Mondays with a bunch of drug fuelled Northern lads and Welsh Tina and spent yesterday coming down by drinking beer and watching Liverpool with a bunch the Northern lads. Oh god. I want to hide under my desk.
I hear it works a treat
watched a bit of TV, went to the British Library Gothic Exhibition but ended up having to be shooed out before I'd seen everything due to them closing (tbf I was in there for over 2 hours but there's so much to see/read).
I've been in meeting for like 2 hours already day, I really just want a coffee.
I've got a test to do tonight and a phone interview tues and wed. Snowboarding thursday though :D yay! This is transition week, lots of closure and new beginnings, kind of exciting but also a ball ache. I just want to lie on my bean bag and watch star trek enterprise all day :P
Brought too much attention to myself considering Its my first day and they hate me already: http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/society/waitrose-shopping-contained-intimidatingly-working-class-spider-2014102091874
really quite enjoyed it.
i watched the following films:
The monuments men - meh, they missed a trick here
Blue Jasmine - really enjoyed it, blanchett was great as always
The Kings Speech - Very good, elevated by geoffrey rush
I have a busy week ahead.
weekend was over too quickly, but I made some fucking incredible burgers Saturday night so not totally irredeemable.
spent most of Saturday viewing flats. one was quite good, considered making an offer for it but when we asked about a second viewing today they'd already had two offers and one had been accepted and it was off the market and i am already bored of looking for new flats. rest were middling so won't bother with them - one was an absolutely dreadful basement flat south of west dulwich train station, was small, really dark. asking price £400k. absolutely crazy price.
sunday i mostly sat watching football/films/playing Persona 4 Golden (up to 150 hours now!) dreading coming to work today. came to work today and it's been as dreadful as i thought it'd be, which is reassuring and terrible at the same time.
the nice place was in the whole dulwichy area, bit further east but had 2 more bedrooms, was on the top floor of a really nice building, had a really nice shared garden, was "only" £30k more despite being about 1000000% better. no wonder it got snapped up so fast.
band practice, stayed over at my sisters, spent all day yesterday being hungover and playing resident evil.
going to see bjork's concert film tonight
got a gig on wednesday
off to cornwall for 4 days on thurs
not bad week tbf tbh
can you keep an eye out for my nectar card please
no particular branch of sainsburys. i didn't even go to and i still lost it. just if you see a lost nectar card let me know, yeah?
will keep an eye out
I am looking forward to Christmas
get in the shower thread - Smee and Theo - no time to explain
What should I get to eat?
stodgy food + bloody mary.
I was meant to move into the new flat on Thursday, but just had a text saying I could move in today instead :D :D :D
She's a straight-up 8/10, so quite chuffed.
Booked Christmas in New York. Going to see if i can get away with putting it through the books at work as a business meeting.
Literally none of this is true.
Next time you imagine getting engaged, maybe they'll be a 9!
this is so ridiculous and i definitely 100% do not deserve it. but confirms that my main skill is bullshitting my way through english essays in the smallest possible amount of time
and drinking 8% cider and probably watching shite tv. i had planned not to drink or watch tv tonight and get loads of job applications done instead, but fuck it, distinction
Fucking distinction and all that! :)
