are shit. Just had another bloody one, a 6.9. Feel a bit ill. Might have a drink. Cheers.
Can't wait to move to be honest. It's only a matter of time before a really big one hits isn't it. Looks like it's gearing up that way. Fucking hell.
Stay safe, Ant. The worse one I've experienced here in San Francisco was a 4 -- woke me up at about 4:30am but thankfully it didn't do any damage here in the city. Like you, we're waiting for "the big one" too. :\
it's the uncertainty, it's being reminded that sooner or later something big's gonna hit, and there's nothing you can do about it. Give it a day or two and I won't even give it a second thought, but when it happens it really puts into perspective how powerless you are to this kind of thing huh?
I'm originally from Napier, it had a big earthquake in 1931 and it took a lot of queues from San Francisco on rebuilding and architecture. Cept when we rebuilt we got rid of the tram and decided not to get too carried away with anything on a slight incline. I mean shit, Christchurch is still a mess a few years later. This country just doesn't know how to deal with natural disaster.
cars bumper to bumper leaving the city. I think people have just had enough.
I am also leaving earthquake country in the near future and I can't wait. Where/when are you moving?
That page says people are fleeing. But it hit at 530 on Friday afternoon - just looks like commuter traffic on the Hutt Rd and the motorway, and the video shows cars on both sides of the motorway, so lots of them are heading into town.
Are people *really* fleeing?
(I'm moving back in a couple of months. Great timing).
Seeing on FB that it really is congested as fuck. Like the others say, stay safe.
sister and her husband live in Wellington. getting pretty unnerving seeing them tweet "another earthquake" what seems like every three weeks
