You know worms, right? Like earthworms, with their wandering around wondering where would be a good place to get cut in half so they’ve got a new friend in themselves, not the ones some children get in their poo when they were children, right? Well when they are crawling they get longer and shorter in a kind of expanding and contracting type motion with various in between bits of body lifting. But my question about worms that I’d really like answered is do they expand their front forward first and then contract or do they contract their rears forward first and then extend their front forward? I’m also wondering whether their equilibrium length is closer to their extended length or their contracted length?
