I just don't know why a music forum attracts so many people. There are a lot of social board bods who seem to have almost no interest in music whatsoever.
You don't need to talk about music to be interested in it. I don't feel the urge to prove to everyone how COOL my music taste is...but that doesn't mean I'm not into it.
Its just nothing that comes up on the social board where I post 90% of the time. I find talking about music fairly boring really but I do go over there sometimes.
I'm not really sure why there is such a divide but I guess its because the social board is so fluff and you kind of have to think/talk in depth on the music board. Most people who post on social are just here to waste time at work and don't really want to get into a massive discussion about how many bpm makes up a real Dupstep track so I guess its just more enjoyable and less argumentative to talk about socks or spag bol.
there is still a lighthearted and humourous bent a lot of the time (except when sean occasionally drops a bollock with a giant philosophical/industry post). And like I said, 4-5 years back, it was just as frequented and by the same characters as the social boards.
I am a bit of nerd though so maybe that's why the music board appeals.
Just seems weird to me that people come to this site to post exclusively about socks football and spag bol. Maybe I'm out of touch. Too old skool in my views.
My statement was more about why so many people come to a music forum to talk less and less about music? back in the day, say 4-5 years ago, there wasn't this divide between social and music.

you idiot.
That's a (weak) contender for music board post of the (yester)day tomorrow, seeing as how it was posted today.
Idiot.

I don't think they realised you were taking the piss
you dont say?
Did it take you lot about 3 years of visiting this board to realise there was a social forum too?
It did me. That means we can expect some quality threads on this here page in about 2014.
My favourite part of the music board is when anyone chirps up and says...
...`Well, to be honest, I just don't really listen to any guitar-based music anymore`.
Really? Your medal's in the post, dickflaps.
I think we should run an exchange programme where we send somebody fomr the social board over the music board for a day (somebody who never posts there) and vice versa.
they'd end up defecting in their droves
*defecating
i'm up for it.
Meths to go first
when we do ultimately send Meo over there
we should at least provide her with a book of common music board phrases and customs.
Oi.
Music Board Tip #67
Locals may react with hostility to threads about how great Katy Perry is. Placate them with subtle flirting.
on the contrary
whittle on about boateng stuff like Katy Perry and Rihanna and the like and you'll fit right in
I genuinely have no idea how Meo ended up on this site
someone mentioned it on the harsh noise hookups forum
Without sounding too patronising (and to be fair, it's never going to be more patronising than your post),
You genuinely have no idea of the music Meo likes.
Oops, wasn't meant like that
I just don't know why a music forum attracts so many people. There are a lot of social board bods who seem to have almost no interest in music whatsoever.
That's even worse
I'll shut up now. I'm trying not to be patronising but the words are coming out wrong.
*There are a lot of social board bods who seem to have almost no interest in the music board whatsoever.
Is it really that bad?
I quite like it.
you brought me here
now you're going to have to put up with me.
I was listening to Kasabian at uni, ffs :D
Fair's fair, though
there are a lot of music board bods who seem to have no interest in social interaction.
This thread being a prime reminder of that.
Not at all (and yeah, you sound WELL patronizing)

Yeah sorry
I shouldn't have said that. My apologies. See below for my real point.
That's okay.

speak for yourself.
I don't think the music board is like that at all
there is still a lighthearted and humourous bent a lot of the time (except when sean occasionally drops a bollock with a giant philosophical/industry post). And like I said, 4-5 years back, it was just as frequented and by the same characters as the social boards.

Ok clarification
My statement was more about why so many people come to a music forum to talk less and less about music? back in the day, say 4-5 years ago, there wasn't this divide between social and music.
We'll send them cat_race
might get a bit of peace and quiet over here
threads may include things like, 'have you ever listened to a song on a tuesday?'
:D
YES!
We should do it :D
Meths, you already post over there, do you not? (otherwise, I think you'd be an ideal representative.)
once every month maybe.
noone wants my music chat and i dont want anyone elses.
Doesn't your music chat consist entirely of bigging up Talking Heads?
hold up fellas
Mr Music Board himself is gracing us with his presence.
my topics usually have over 50 replies
usually.
wtf
is meths a second generation music boarder?
SEND THEM BACK.
*hides rare vinyl*

and yes, it is called 'good head'.
Humour, sex in relation to music?
No wonder you were run out of there on a rail
nearly 50 mate.
Well, if there was a way of limiting someone's posting privileges to just one board
... actually, I'd put him in Festivals.
i dont want to step on darcys toes.
hey!!!!
oh you mean meths thats ok
Don't kid yourself.
you behave yourself
Wait, I've just seen your thread about buying OK Computer in Woolworths in Shaw
Laughing hard at this. I take it all back.
Bullshit wanker.
:D
The music board actually makes the social board look cool
ponder that for a minute.
great point.
Which one do you post in the most?
i've just realised,
this is thewarn laughing at a guy claiming to always get 50 replies, and yet here we are handing over on a plate his famed 100 replies.
