We were mad into marbles in years 4 and 5
The Kookaburra can go fuck itself, flimsiest seam in fucking Christendom
of course, in the West Kent League we play with Readers balls, which are fine
allows pitchers to do a lot more with the ball than they could with, say, a cricket ball.
There are more variations in cricket, though as mentioned, that's partly due to the bounce
The fact they can do more with it has more to do with the fact they're allowed to bend their elbow in its dispatch
Abdul Qadir could make it do about 17 different things off the pitch
I'm a big cricket fan, all I said was that a baseball's well designed.
And if I've learnt anything off girls, it's that saying calm down only ever makes thing less calm!
its design does make it infernally difficult to kick straight, which places a premium on try-scoring, which is rugby at its 'purest' idk someone else can take this
its inelegance is its purpose, which is pretty unique
Italy use Mitre, Wales use Webb Ellis, everyone else uses Gilbert. Slightly different shapes/performances, which is why some players have much better kicking stats in different places.
rugby league balls having more panels than the union version
They are quite different
& the fact it has one seam that curves around the surface meaning you can have the ball spin so it has two seams or 4 seams, thus meaning you can make the ball behave in two completely different ways when throwing it with exactly the same grip & hand action.
so sturdy; never gets damaged
but i swing and miss and the ball goes downwards to the feeet and then it's flat
one day you're going to end up standing in dogshit
they're really combustible
they're ROUND they must be BALLS
low centre of gravity innit
They also chip too easily
What size are they?
In real size?
a quality feather shuttlecock is a thing of beauty.
just started playing again and using plastics. It's great to play again but love playing with feathered shuttlecocks.
Such a shame they barely last though :(
Just started playing after 10 years off. With plastics though. I had a hit with some feather a couple of weeks ago and it was fabulous.
Plastics do the job well enough but feathers are just grand.
I don't suppose you are around London, NV? Could go for a knock sometime.
I bloody love badminton.
However, do travel a bit with work. I'll let you know.
Don't pay less than a tenner for a tube of feathers - quality will be shite and they'll only last a couple of rallies. Go for Yonex or RSL Tourney No1
Yeah if I'm going to buy summat that depreciates that fast they'll be Yonex I think. Just love em. They are a lot easier to kill than plastics I find and as that's my game it's great whne I play with em. Sadly, I'm not as agile as I was eight years ago!
they are just so shiny.
Golf balls are an incredible piece of design, too.
is their weight - good, solid mass, feels wonderful in the hand
Golf balls were designed by accident - Nature's education
when a snooker ball is potted at such a speed it hits the back of the pocket and goes 'BOM' on its way in.
The other is when a ball is potted dead weight and just drops into the pocket, and you just hear that cushioning sound.
Thanks for whetting my appetite. Now to beat last time's high break of 13. :/
(red-pink-red-brown-red, fact fans)
made just such a noise
What is the ratio of hexagonal dimples to pentagonal dimples?
Mad colours, all kinds of shapes of patches. It's a god-damned free-for-all.
