Boards
scams/rip offs/dodgy corporate practices
Bit of a weird thing to post, but I'm looking in to this for a newspaper and thought I might harness the collective wisdom of these boards for some extra info.
Essentially, I'm after any solid examples of companies scamming or ripping off their customers, either directly or indirectly.
So I'm trying to get in touch with people who might have first hand info/experience of this sort of thing.
Stuff like:
You work' for a famously expensive restaurant but the owner doesn't let you keep your tips.
You work for a public body that has just spunked £2m on ergonomic chairs after laying off a bunch of staff.
You work for a utilities company/public body and have experience of ridiculously lavish staff entertainment spend or perhaps you know first hand of practices that make it hard for customers to get prompt refunds.
You work for well known car dealer and have witnessed colleagues stamping service books for cash.
You've worked for a well known coffee shop/fast food retailer which had ridiculous upselling targets.
That's the sort of thing I'd like to know about, but also I'd love to hear of anything that you've experienced that you thought was out of order or unfair.
Feel free to DM me if you'd prefer not to respond to this thread.
I promise I won't use your name unless you want me to.
Thanks.
