the first paragraph :')
There isn't a Vue in Wood Green is there? It's a Cineworld and Hollywood Green
was taken over by Vue a year or two ago.
sadface. spent many an orange wednesday there, watching utter cack, in summer 2004.
But it's run by Vue instead of Showcase now.
Hollywood Green 4 lyf
Punch Drunk Love, 50 first dates (it's entertaining fluff, come on)
But his quality control is worse than Nicolas Cage, which is saying something
having to pay the tax man.
Every other film is proper pony though.
and like to look at it with rose tinted memory specs or is Waterboy not pretty good? It's basically Happy Gilmore with silly voices - what's not to like.
basically when does a bad film stop being just a bad film, but is a scam? How could something so poorly written and produced cost 70-80 million dollars while being full of product placement deals and disguised adverts? Did most of the budget end up in the bank accounts of Sandler and his cronies from SNL?
I also liked their lists of cliches they expected to find
Amazing. A budget of $79 million, with likely more than 25% of it going to Sandler in paycheck. Incredible.
1. You've all seen this from South Park, yes? http://filmdrunk.uproxx.com/2011/06/south-parks-trailer-parodies-and-morning-links
2. Enter Armond White, the proudly contrarian but actually secretly brilliant (and knows his shit) writer, on Jack and Jill: http://cityarts.info/2011/11/11/plumbing-ethnicity-sandler%E2%80%99s-jack-jill-and-tyler-perry/ Always great to read his stuff, even better with the knowledge of how much he fucks people off
but yeah. Looks terrible.
Happpy Gilmour - Good
Wedding Singer - Pretty Good
Everything else - Utterly and irredeemably awful.
of the last 10 years.
It's probably an amazing movie.
don't get him at all
I've not read his reviews much for a while but, from the few I have seen, I think his taste has improved.
which disproves that he's always wrong - but he often has a great liking for middling gubbins
he also gave a talk at my school once and spent half the time eulogising lesbian scenes. if you want P Bradshaw to give your film a good review, lesbians.
as he tends to spend most of them explaining the whole plot, but I tend to like the same films that he does, especially because he has a disdain for the middlebrow award-bait literary adaptation.
I don’t think that his taste has changed really though.
this is funny though
Love that film.
