The Five Finder-Outers shit on The Famous Five and The Secret Seven
a couple lately - they're terrible.
Magic Shitaway Tree more like.
really, really, really, really, really wish I still had access to a copy
I fucking loved the Famous Five
but I probably wouldn't object to them, even now.
but my favourite of the Famous Five series was one where they have to climb down a well to get to some tunnels. Admittedly that's a pretty vague memory. It may even have been Secret Seven, but I don't think so, as I did mainly prefer FF.
All the Malory Towers books were great too. (I say that, having read them probably 20 times each when I was young but not having looked at one for well over 10 years now. I'd probably think they were terrible if I saw a copy today.)
I supposed I didn't read them in order.
It involves yet another Uncle Quentin kidnap plot but with more international espionage from what I remember. I think it's called something lame like 'Five on Kirrin Island Again'
I came across one of the worst Wikipedia page I've seen: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Year_at_Malory_Towers it contains the sentence 'a few weeks later the biggie happens'.
but my favourite sleuthing books were the Mystery Series - much better than the other two.
I also liked the Willow Tree and Cherry Tree Farm books, and probably read just about all of the Enchanted Wood and Magic Chair series too.
The Island of Adventure, the Castle of Adventure etc. Was also a fan of St Clare's.
the naughtiest girl is a monitor (i always used to read this as minotaur)
and i liked the collections - fireside tales
naughty amelia jane
since it was the book that taught me to read, i had real trouble before i picked that book up and sailed through. my mum was really worried before then
