Lovefilm thread No. 179894
HEY DiS. So I just got a Lovefilm account, and my brain has gone pretty blank with looking at it and I'd like some recommendations.
I am pretty open when it comes to films, but generally speaking I like:
* documentaries, particularly on music (we jam econon, 80s hardcore/diy scenes stuff etc), urban issues, and plolitics and the inherent unaccountability of government in a corporatised world and the unending environmental and societal fuckups that brings (gastown etc), but then I also really liked King of Kong so you know
* trashy/fun b-movies, generally ones that are unintentionally bad
* mumblecore angst films
* brain hurting SF stuff
* miserable bastard post-apocalyptic stuff where there's a relentless air of GRIM DARKNESS and total lack of hope
* ludicrous Japanese/Asian films with ultraviolence
* crappy slasher movies
in terms of TV i like that kinda "new school" of Quality American TV, although a lot of stuff I've seen already (all the recent AMC/Showtime/HBO stuff, Sons of Anarchy, Fringe etc) although if there's anything from maybe three/four years ago that is worth checking out that would be cool. Carnivale springs to mind in that mold. i'm generally pretty bad with sitcoms actually, I've only recently got into Arrested Development and Curb for instance.
thanks team. i'm a poor student now and you'll be helping me out.
