i assume from the descriptions of the characters, it was Steve who lathed off its tail
no wonder she slept with Steve
But yes, I would keep gifts, unless there was something ridiculously sentimental and personal about them. I still have a copy of V for Vendetta (the book) from an ex, which wasn't a gift, but I borrowed it from her then we broke up. She was given it as a gift from a friend, and it has an inscription from them in it. That makes me feel a bit bad. What was worse was just before we broke up, we went to our summer ball and I paid a fortune to have our picture taken together, which is a REALLY lovely photo, now destined to remain in a drawer or wherever it is. Hmm.
um, yeah, i keep stuff. even if it's just in a box. it's nice to get it out/come across it occasionally and remember good times.
Handwritten tracklisting, drawing for the cover, little inscription inside, all the usual stuff. Obviously I couldn't listen to any of the songs off it for ages when we stopped seeing each other, but once that had faded I was glad I kept it. It's a fucking great mixtape.
It was a bloody good hairdryer, though it exploded a couple of weeks ago. Good innings though.
My last gf definitely got the better share of gifts and things you can't ask for back, including some top vinyl. Dammit.
I think it cost about £500. There's no engraving on it or anything, so it's not like it's an obvious relic of the engagement. I don't wear it very often, and when the battery went it took me a good three months to get it replaced.
The pragmatic bit of me thinks it's a good watch and getting rid of it would be a waste. I've thought of selling it, but not knowing the value makes that difficult.
of our relationship back and tried to return stuff I'd got her. I refused, she got shitty and threw 'my' stuff away, so I just gave her stuff away to charity. Which was a bit of a shame really, but her demands had kinda tainted them and shat all over the reasons I had for keeping them.
I'm not giving away the Father Ted boxset or Naked Gun trilogy for anything
He has a suitcase (MY SUITCASE!) full of books (some of them aren't even mine the bastard) and DVDs that belong to me back at his parent's house in Leeds. If we break up I'd probably still go down there just to get all my stuff back. PRIDE.
Though we did split up on good terms.
