I am out of TV shows to watch and just about to become unemployed.
You have to remember when it was made though - there are certain things that may seem a little dated now, in this post-Sopranos, post-Wire times.
See also: Murder One. I remember watching this at the time and thinking it was revolutionary, but watching it again made it seem a little soapy, even if it was still leagues better than any legal drama made in the UK since.
then getting a bit bored when I realiesd the grumpy speaking baby was actually just a little bald man.
And missed the last one, in the days pre-iPlayer.
I also did the same thing for Mysterious Cities of Gold.
I think long running shows are wasted on me...
It's brilliant. Watch it.
but I watched it almost immediately after The Wire, because of the David Simon link, so it seemed pretty tame in comparison.
I gave it a good go as well, watched all of the first two series, but it never really seemed to click.
The Shield? Terriers is good also, best one season show. The Killing? Friday Night Lights?
Isnt the Killing not even out yet?
or The Shield
but yeah The Shield is the bomb. also you should watch The Pillars Of The Earth which is ace and stupidly ott. and Deadwood obviously.
should probably check out the Shield as well but I'm thinking in length here, the Homicide set is £50 on amazon and has like 140+ episodes i think. SEVEN WEEKS OF UNEMPLOYMENT.
I finished watching this yesterday. I see what marckee was saying about it feeling a little dated - it is still a network TV procedural and not a serialised cable drama - but the character work they did within that was consistently superb. I think that probably deserves some extra credit considering the turnover in cast over the run, even the new characters product in towards the end of the run were really well fleshed out.
I'd recommend this if you were considering watching it.
i can only handle a few episodes of it at a time and then i have to leave it alone for a few months, will probably finish it in a few years
