atbay's eurovision 09 review
this year's eurovision was pretty amicable in my opinion.
unlike last year's in serbia, which was obviously corrupt and manipulated in such a peculiar way so that russia was to unfairly win for some bizarre, outdated policy of slavic loyalty (and was also organised with hilarious totalitarian manipulation that saw terry wogan locked in a room away from the bar so he couldn't criticise the show), this years was, to me, very egalitarian and political voting was limited to the usual although suspect point exchanges between russia and estonia (which only a year or two ago had it's fuel supply cut off, and it's administrative computer network hacked by russia) and between the balkan states.
graham norton was fine; it was apparent that he felt uncomfortable in wogan's role but the whole mocking commentary aspect of british eurovision coverage is pretty superfluous, imo.
the uk entry was good. it was excellent. i was sick of all the joke entries that we were putting up; entries that made the uk look not just ridiculous, but arrogant.
i didn't like norway's entry but, to quote wogan, 'i've never picked a winner'.
armenia's entry was my personal favourite and it was a lot better than the similar turkish entry which proved particularly popular, esp. in this country.

the pre-vote entertainment was fantastic. the weird shallow bath thing was amazing.
ducan from blue was a nice touch.
