right now. SNOW!
STUPID FUCKING COLD SNOW
the flakes are so light they're barely making it to the ground.
were you the tall dude in the suit drinking wine?
annoying as I had big plans for yesterday.
there was a tall dude in a suit drinking wine there, kinda looked like your profile picture, but he had glasses.
the bands were alright.
DOES NOT WANT WORK TOMORROW
You call yourself a snowflake! Get down and give me white! I wanna see 3 feet or ill bust your ass back to raindrop! you hear me!
and margate never gets snow! mind you, it's not laying :(
i miss hill snow
but there is a hefty breeze regardless of the lack of snow
we've not left the house yet
how are you planning on spending your last day in london's famous london?
TANNING IT ON THE BUS
this is yes_ woops ahahaha alolololol hothothothothotohtohto
you should so stop off in the midlands and say hi to myself and pigfoot!
http://www.amazon.com/World-Stuffed-Seal-Long-Wide/dp/B000UGH5XE is this it? he he he
snow fail, then
It's been snowing for almost an hour. It's starting to settle now too
when i cycled to hammersmith just now but no, it was crap.
we just had a massive international snowball fight that degenerated into everyone vs the french
There's dribs and drabs, but nothing serious.
but not at my house 25 minutes walk away :(
and it looks clear out of my window
IT'S NOT SNOWING IN READING!
there is even a tiny bit on the ground.
give me spring. I'm done with winter.
i was wearing plimsolls. I AM NOT HAPPY.
Massive Uni snow fight. Massive enjoyment and victory!
SNOW ALL OVER MY ROOF TERRACE
hold the frontpage
finally settling and man it's great. me and my girlfriend went for a walk and saw a dog eating snow and coughing it back up and getting confused, had a snowball fight and then came home to make a barbecue in the snow.
she's meant to get a train at 10 tomorrow...probably won't run huh?
its all wispy, ephemeral....... reminds me of silent hill or the end of trufauts farenheit 451
but it's still not proper snow, even though it's settled. IT'S JUST NOT NORTHERN ENOUGH
I wanna go for a little walk and take some nice snowy photos somewhere in London tomorrow - anyone got any suggestions for where to go? Cheers
no snow in Scotland
this is lame
snow arriving fast and furious in County Durham
its beautiful so beautiful I seized the moment and kissed my sister on the cheek we had a moment
still no snow in Scotland
we're supposed to get the snow, not you southern bums
Snowdrifts up to three inches high, woodlice and other small creatures are getting buried. Whichever morons are supposed to grit this road have neglected to do so. For this reason the half-hourly bus is sliding past at about 4mpg and people on mopeds are looking worried.
Various foreigners are laughing at britain's incapability to deal with weather.
no exageration. I had to beg my mum to pick me up from the station and we eventually managed to do the five minute drive back in over twenty minutes.
I think I may not go to work tomorrow
Public transport here is fu-u-u-u-cked tomorrow.
the first winter i was here (feb 2004), but that happened on a weekday when there were more council staff around and stuff.
tomorrow is not going be fun for you suckas on public transport :D
totally silent, over an inch of snow on the ground and really lovely. SHAME IT WAS SO COLD)
if schools close because of a few inches of snow it will be a scandal
toughen up you bunch of sissys
and made a snow angel. We all snuck up to our other flatmate's bedroom, and chucked snowballs at him. A few stony glares in the morning, I bet!
being a monday, it would be logical if heavy - as no time to prepare over the weekend
view from my window now http://tinyurl.com/a9whez
lots of snow in leeds. when walking home from hyde park got involved in a snowball fight. can't feel fingers or toes. call for help.
more to come over night and tommorow too, I'm gona build a snowman tommorow and chill some booze as I do it.
radioactive snow <3
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=r9rdjn&s=5 (I met a fox!)
but a car came and ran it over. need a bigger wall.
ALL LONDON BUSES HAVE BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM SERVICE DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER AND DANGEROUS ROAD CONDITIONS.
just a bit of snow. surely we've got bombs and shit that can melt it?
it's bloody mental! If you're still in the same postcodal area as me that is.
i wrote up there i went out and built a wall and shit! i was out there for a good hour and a half and now my nose is dripping.
btw i went to best mangal yesterday. great place, glad you like it. try out bosphorus in south kensington too, it's also fantastic.
I will note it down with an eager palate.
My flatmate built a mini snowman on our terrace ledge about an hour ago, it is still going strong.
i don't know how to build a snowman, so i always just build a wall or a pile of snow.
have you been to any other places on north end road? that cafe, the green one? i went there for a fry up one time and it was actually really good.
on north end road are Caffe Caffe (next to West Ken tube station) and an indian place down near tesco express just off north end word. What's the green cafe, that thai place?
it's towards the kensington end of north end road, past best mangal. i want to try all the places around the area. i went to the chicken shop around there and it was pretty good, pretty cheap.
we should go for a best mangal one time. what do you order from them? i love the iskender.
if london isn't working then sissy surrey transport has no chance
I was going to meet some really cool people tommorow
you me and him should go for a burger king
Like attack a burger king?
I might be up for that
things taht will help us bond w/ ppl
Im not really good at bonding with people dukebox
But id hazard that sharing a secret of collabrative murder of a teacher/ parent/ authority figure would allow people to bond.
Depends on which god you find
maybe we can go look for vishnu or buddha or jus liek moses instead idk
I was merely representing a hypothetical means of bonding dukebox
Where shall we start looking dukebox?
lets go to france i bet moses lieks vineyards huh
we went up to the roof and met some of our neighbours for the first time, they were up there making an awesome snowman
i've had enough. i'm going to go outside with my socks and see how far i sink
You look different to the last time I saw you, somehow
Are you taller? I wish I was taller
i'm still real short. i think it's the jacket. it makes me look like a hero, huh?
Perhaps a lumberjack with nothing left to lose
I need a new jacket. I bbought one from wembley market and its good, but im still cold
yay or nay?
there was a fox in my garden for about half an hour earlier just mucking about in the snow.
fucking loads of snow
i live near angel, we walked down the road and there was noone around, cos we left the house at midnight
been for a walk, it's really bad out there.
it took TWO HOURS to drive home from there to the tip of south london [SE1, not exactly out in the sticks]. the roads are like ice sheets, i didn't see any grit at all anywhere. everything going at 5 miles an hour, cars skidding about all over the shop, wheels spinning madly.
the bendy buses totally can't cope - i saw 4 or 5 of them along the way, all bent in half and smooshed up against the pavement, looking about as confused as it's possible for a bus to look. massive road blockages.
my garden has loads of foliage, all of which is covered in thick snow, so it's like being in a weird snow cave. i just built a snow leopard.
[when i say snow leopard, i mean a fat round snowman-like kitty cat with perky ears and tail and twig whiskers. but we'll go with snow leopard.]
of the buses having minds and being quite confused
but red, and with bendy middles. they looked totally incompetent. the words MASSIVE FAIL came to mind. i seriously hope someone got a picture.
i just built a big snowmum and child in my back garden, with little plant-pot hats. holding hands. how unutterably twee/gay/lame/awesome.
That is just the way when you have to walk through 2 foot of snow to get to work.
the notices are still on the TfL website.
i'm getting the fear nobody else is going to be at work today...
I'm not going to be doing that again in a hurry. My legs are proper hurting now.
Job interview starting in a bit over an hour, buses out, have to walk 2 miles through the snow probably to find my interviewer hasn't even made it in...
just walked from old street to clapton after a night-shift because i suspected no overground was running (wrong)
HORRIFIC. I had icicles in my hair and one of my ballet shoes (yeah, maybe i should have checked the BBC website last night) filled up with ice so i ran when i was within five minutes of my house with one tighted unshod foot. At one point there was this peculiar blue light so it looked like the glitter you used to get on christmas cards and i actually thought i was imagining it and i was going to die.
once i get over my anger at tfl and life and snow i'm gonna make a snowman. and then kick its head in.
I was supposed to give a (dire) presentation today. I'm fairly sure there's a god now. Some sort of snow god, but a god nonetheless. Immabout to make a bacon sandwich and sit in my bathrobe.
okay, i admit it, this is snow like we used to get
No London bus network whatsoever.
SNOW DAY SNOW DAY SNOW DAY
I'm the only person in the office though so maybe I won't have to stay...
Anyone for a snow ball fight in Hyde Park?
I could be tempted by a snowball fight around Angel Station if anyone fancies joining me up here. I'M SO ALONE.
There were some hateful monsters on the tube this morning. One woman couldn't get on the tube, asked a man to move so that she could get on and stole his hat when he wouldn't (and he couldn't move).
I wasn't expecting it to stick at all.
So many tube lines are down as well.
Oh well, I'm back home now. And only an hour and ten minutes after I set out to leave!
i love snow
apparently the overground from hackney central is still running, though they're not sure if that'll still be the case in an hour. my flatmate talked to a TFL guy at the station who said they're not even sure the buses will be back by tomorrow.
i wouldn't risk it.
whoops. I could have gone in then. Ah well.
...and as i'm in charge, no work for all my staff too.
looked at the train site and most of them are cancelled so im staying at home!
('working from home')
i want snow day off :s
I logged on to mine and there was an email from the chief executive.
but 'problem loading the page' :'( i'm gonna call someone.
snow day off. i'm gonna go and make a snowman and take photos.
I should be playing in the snow. Someone come and close my offices and say that I can play in the snow.
I woke up warm, so had a bath, fed the cats, read some manga. Then opened the curtains and w.o.a.h. That is ridiculously impressive. Crazy.
Even if I made it in I wouldn't be able to do anything. I'd probably be stranded there after the second wave hits later on anyway. eek.
SERVERS DOWN. YEAH!
SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW :D
wearing just my boxers and some slippers to see what all the kerfuffle was about cos i could hear some kids screaming. there was lots of snow. it went up my leg.
i completely forgot that there was snow last night. no lecture, though i hardly go in anyway...
I have 2 hours of language classes and I could stay here essaying instead...
Bonjour! Donde esta die gezundheit? DE LA CONFITURE.
I've got an email interview type thing for an internship in Paris this week. FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
I walked into work with a massive grin on my face. There's no-one here. But the central heating at my office (and free tea and cafeteria) pwns my freezing cold house.
They weren't as scared of snow as I'd hoped. It was the cutest thing ever though. They were completely covered and looked even tinier than they are. Took half a box of dried food to get them back inside though...
My boss isn't going in and told me to work from home too.
Post some pics!
got to wanstead tube to find an enterprising member of TFL staff waving people away, saying "no central line, mate". which is pretty odd because the TFL website says the central line is running. IDK
and it's all the young uns (commuters couldn't make it).
Oddly, it's the first time in ages I've been in on time. Gonna eat up the book I'm reading I think.
what with thickening snow tomorrow, although it is only an hour or so's walk
They wouldn't let me on the tube and I was fucked if I'd try what would be a 30-40 minute walk in good weather.
I'm 'working' from home...
tfl says are working. phew.
Got some wicked photos! :D
I saw a man slip and slide into the path of (thankfully) the world's slowest Fiesta.
uxbridge road was full of people having snowball fights. in the middle of the road. a wee bit dumb - cars + icy roads = not necessarily stopping in time.
i had a brief snowball fight on the roof of bush hall. it was epic. [it wasn't really. i threw snow down the neck of my opponent then fled inside. i still won.]
like above :) it's very nice.
but delivers so little? gutted. i thought we were going to get a grand covering there.
to walk to work (in Reading). the roads were pretty much deserted. my shoes are really wet now :(
most snow i've seen in Reading since 1994 i think.
DEDICATION! And cold feet.
it was awesome! And a puppy going mental in the snow. Everyone was smiling lots. Fun walk in.
also I missed WITTR last night due to the paper failing to get me guestlisted. AGHHHH.
Looks like I'm going to be sent home now too. I'm here and ready to work! Oh noes about WITTR, hopefully they'll do atp instead? My boss is 'working from home' - why am I the only one bothered enough to come in? I'm going to bring this up next time we have salary reviews fo' sho'
can someone explain why the London underground would halt because of some snow?
this country is pathetic
Combine that with the fact that the staff have to actually GET there.
Also water will have caused dangerous conditions within the stations.
and no-one's in! Get to go at lunchtime though, hooray!
The reserve looks really lovely though, I should have brought my camera.
Stinky McTwatbags has bought his Pogs in to swap!
Can I copy your History homework?
IT'S JUST FUCKING SNOW
If the french weren't so busy protesting, they'd be laughing at us mercilessly right about now. How come you can drive a coach up a mountain in a blizzard in france, fairly straightforwardly, yet you get a couple of centimetres here and the whole country shuts down?
Good work sir!
there's a thunder storm over my house, i wanna go out and play :(
Hyde Park snowball fight much?
wtf? How bad IS it down there?
mind you my hands almost froze on the 5 minute walk to uni and back
I hate being local to work. Everyone else has called in to say they can't get here as the trains aren't running and the M25 is closed. I can't really do anything. It's just me and my boss :(
i wish i'd checked tfl before i left for work and realised i could have just lied and pretended i couldn't get into work especially as i'm a bit sick at the moment.
saying that i had a great time getting in. i <3 wellington boots. walked to liverpool street station stopping to take lots of pics. had to wait a bit for them to let us in. got onto the platform and the second train to come was totally empty. then another walk from notting hill to kensington, took some more pics and saw a snowman. yay!
still wish i was at home though. neither of my two bosses are here. annoying.
I wanted pics of the city in snow but Mile End was just totally not letting people in. :(
i didn't even wait that long, maybe 5 mins.
i really wish they hadn't.
I can't work properly at home. :(
:( nowhere near enough snow
They'd never grit Plymouth Grove's pavement either so walking into uni was a fucking NIGHTMARE.
told us all to go home at 2pm! WOOHOO!
I think we'll leave a little early but not much!
i'm one of 10 or so people in the office, and we're being penalised so we haev to cover everyone! :(
We have an internal courtyard/garden type thing in the middle of my block of flats which looks awesome in the snow.
and its RED ALERT WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE FROM SNOW. Do you think scandinavian countries have a funny news item at the end of their news broadcasts featuring a wry look at how the UK coped with 2.5cm of snow today.. The rest of europe is laughing at us people !!
coverage isn't really in proportion to the weather is it..
I was saying much the same thing last night. They were literally reporting on snowfall, nothing else had happened at that point.
of bread and water, I had to restrain an 85 year old woman just to get to croissants in Sainsburys this morning.
People in Scandinavian countries don't panic in snow, but that's because they're used to heavy snowfall.
I think not.
02 Feb 09, 9:42am (about 1 hour ago)
Camden Council have closed their parks! Kid's off school - what do they want to do? Go to the park. What is wrong with these people?
i think pretty much all our staff are at home today.
London Ambulance Service will only respond to "life-threatening calls" today.
"The extreme weather has placed the London Ambulance Service under severe pressure today and our priority is to get to those patients with life-threatening illnesses or injuries as quickly as possible," said, Richard Webber, acting director of operations.
this is currently the heaviest snow yet by far (zone2)! Anyone who has managed to get somewhere will get stuck if this happens for much longer.
and Goldsmiths has decided to shut because of it. I only live a five minute walk away and don't have to go in, it's great.
they may say it's running with delays but what that actually means is you'll get half way to your destination, the train will be taken out of service, there'll be no trains going back the other way, and you'll have to take a short tube journey then walk back from Angel to Hackney Central over some seriously tiring bumpy icy paths.
but still, now that silliness is over, NO WORK!!!!
I feel like I'm 8 years old.
I could come and help! Potentially lethal City Road lunchtime run here I come!
apparently according to my not smug at all freinds no ther company in brighton is functioning...
bloody american express juggernauting towards financial ruin...
admittedly, I've not ventured out yet, but there's barely any I can see. And it's sunny.
I just woke up as I took the day off - I slept round my mates - I played in the snow until about 4am and now I got up nd there's transport nightmares.
I'm currently in MASSIVE SMUG MODE.
But I hope it clears up fairly soon, as for once I have stuff to do. I'm about to head outside for the first time
It's not lying much though, lame. It took me twice as long to get to college today because i couldn't actually see when i was walking. SNOW IN MY EYES.
snow everywhere. I take back what I said yesterday, this is exciting.
it was great until a mass gang brawl broke out.
also i'm in the daily mirror, woo, with Lily Allen, err.
we strolled over to regent's park and had snowball fights, and made a massive snowman.
Wanstead was lovely today
