although i would guess it's too late for anything that was interrupted mid-season to pick up again this year.
of lost is only gonna be 13 episodes long? ouch.
it was only meant to be sixteen, they'll probably just carry them over to season 5 and make that twenty four episodes.
Put your pens away chaps the series that take 13 people to write one joke are back at their desks!!!
achieve anything? As if the proportion of royalties will ever be paid to the people who should get them, everyone is getting fucked and the one thing the strike meant was that me and several people I know have had to take shitty temp jobs to make up for a dearth of decent camera jobs in what is always the shittest part of the year anyway.
when they do it will be like classic Keanu Reeves americanfootbalromcom 'The Replacements' and actors will be replaced by hilariously unsuitable scab workers
Seth can get back to writing Family Guy!
that the second Futurama film is already written, otherwise they're never going to get all three out this year..
apparently season 7 of 24 is going to be delayed until 2009 because they want to show it all at once.
Has everyone seen the trailer by the way? Looks like everything's gonna be pretty different. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0KtyHCuAtA
seen either of those so I'll remain blissfully ignorant of that.
Die Hard 4: some renegade from the US intelligence services assembles a crack team of hackers to break into the ONE COMPUTER NETWORK THAT CONTROLS ALL OF AMERICA (lolz) and sets about destroying its infrastructure.
Die Hard 2: Terrorists take over the airport and set the artificial horizon 200 ft below the ground and then tell the plan to land and it crashes in a big fireball. (But it's okay, it's only full of British people so no one important got hurt. Lolz!)
used in season 5 (i think) of 24, but concerning just nuclear power plants.
Maybe Fox hired the same writer for both?
And the bit with the planes just seemed a strange step too far in the Die Hard direction.
I haven't seen any of them! Are they even any good or just generic macho action films?
Seriously, what? "generic macho action films?" Like, isn't that what 24 is in TV form?
The original Die Hard is a great action film, and in no way a generic action film.
Die Hard 2 is a woefully directed and scripted cash-in but has its moments.
Die Hard 3 is mostly a brilliant buddy movie but loses it a bit after the scene with the aspirin and the phone call.
Die Hard 4 is surprisingly really good fun but utterly, utterly preposterous in a way the other three films only dreamed of. It's still better than 24 Season 2 on account of not having Elisha Cuthbert in it.
or a bond film
or any of the Star Wars / LOTR / yadda yadda
I'd have said a fan of 24 should enjoy Die Hard, yeah.
I wouldn't have said they'd necessarily like Star Wars or LOTR or yadda yadda, though.
How is Die Hard like Star Wars or LOTR apart from them all being 'blockbusters'?
one Star Wars film and have little desire to see any of the others. Lord Of The Rings trilogy = amazing. I watched most of the Bond films when I was about 12 but haven't bothered seeing the last couple, I think I'd find the formula a bit boring now.
In response to Theo's point, I always saw 24 as more of a violent high-tension political thriller rather than a macho action movie.
To me a thriller is a thriller is a thriller, be it Alien, The French Connection, Jaws or something like Zodiac. I do love thrillers.
I guess you won't know if you like Die Hard until you watch it. It's certainly (to my mind) in the intelligent section of the action genre, though it does get a little silly near the end. :D
I've only ever watched 24 in pretty much one sitting with the DVDs there so maybe I view it differently for that reason.
There are some tremendously well written American shows that hang on a knife edge of being recomissioned, the fact that the writers can get back to work will help. I'm looking at you Dexter.
Hopefully they'll have been stock-piling ideas in this time and we'll see some interesting work in the coming months.
What no sunbeds and hair bleach for a day?
That'll do me.
or was it cancelled?
I think Heroes will do a Lost and become completely superfluous and uninteresting, it feels like they <sorry> blew their wad on the first series completely...
I'm such a comic book book geek, but still, no no no no no.
all the Lost-alikes (prison break, heroes, etc) will dissapear completely.
The quality of Lost has improved markedly now the writers know when it's going to end, that one'll hang on.
Filming resumes soon, apparently
