my friend is stewarding :(
i would advise to bring wellies...
its funny the lack of buzz compared to last year - are DIS not involved anymore?
brave the rain!
there is no more water in the sky!
this is what my mate sent me:
i have this:
that's not me
i'll give whoever can guess who it is a million pounds!
"they're not allowed to open the flood drains cos it risks flooding the village or something."
also, the carpark is underwater. DO NOT DRIVE THERE.
we were going to leave tonight. By car.
(c) Barry & Paul
I feel slightly less bad that I'm not going now. Slightly, mind.
does this mean people are still gonna go today? OR are they gonna do what the nice festival people ask....
will read this and still turn up and RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE
about ruining it for everyone. i just don't want our car to sink into the mud.
or have to sleep on some driftwood.
now considering getting a B&B, though they're probably going to be booked up aren't they?
kinda considering not going a bit maybe sort of?
a bit, maybe, sorta...
but you've got to remember that photo was taken in the middle of a thunderstorm, when the ground is obviously going to be waterlogged.
if the rain holds off it should be better..
i'm hoping they'll be honest with keeping us updated...thing is its obvious they will want to go on no matter what its like so that they dont lose their money...even if its a clogged up poophole
stop being a pansy.
it was "a bit of rain" last year. it's a different matter when the ground is waterlogged BEFORE you get there..
and then the ground was fine by the evening? If it doesn't rain much overnight then it's sunny tomorrow it should be fine!
How can you consider not going - you've paid for it and you aren't gonna be able to sell your ticket at this short notice - it's hardly like Glastonbury where you have to walk for miles just to see Nelly Furtado - there are actually some good bands here and the whole site is about a square mile at most!
whatever happens there's going to be a field containing a sizeable percentage of all the people I like in this world in one place.
something fun will ensue.
"The steward meeting scheduled for 7pm Friday has been postponed due to inclement weather."
lol @ 'inclement'.
leaving aside the humorous understatement. Very British.
didcot parkway train station is closed.
you literally can't get to the platform.
does anyone know if the carpark's going to be totally unusable though? i guess we won't find out 'till we get there. Eek!
The BBC weather report looks more optimistic than it did this morning though, fingers crossed eh Truckers?
i'm buying wellies.
a small one, obvs.
that it is 'completely' flooded.
any clue as to probability of cancellation then?
"adamant" it's going to go ahead.
that people will have somewhere to pitch their tent/park their cars?
They can invoke adam ant all they want, no mad highwayman is going to be able to accommodate 3000+ people in an aquatic environment.
Unless the camping field has pretty amazing drainage, and/or the forecast is entirely wrong and it's about to get real sunny and hot for the forseeable future, this could be interesting.
i don't think it would dry out in a week, let alone in less than twenty four hours.
I can't see how they are not going to be able to cancel it. I can't tread water for more than probably half an hour
give us the ticket money back so its gonna go ahead no matter what...
but I should think the council or police would have to step in if it is properly submerged
The Ashton Court Festival has gone into liquidation today having had its last day scrapped thanks to the weather. Given how much they're putting into the staging this year, it's not implausible that a cancellation and full refund might mean there will never be a Truck Eleven.
if it's so bad that some freak weather fucks the whole thing over then using a site with such poor drainage was kind of a gamble on their part really.
pretty unlucky but still....
the last year anyway?
did you hear that?
just a rumour tho
some water wings.
the barn is gonna be like that level on Super Mario Bros where you try your best to avoid the funny looking plants and pentagon headed squid.
it's going to be like a load of indie kids ending up on their arses every thirty seconds.
but the other part of me realises it will be pretty bad if you can't actually sleep or walk or watch any bands
be like the war.
i hope my 'e-ticket' doesn't get soggy.
counting the cash
i'm siding with "it's going to be a fucking nightmare" at the moment.
a funny nightmare though.
and you can always leave.
depending on how saturday goes, i might just go home..
i'm getting a lift off dave. he might be more hardcore than me.
I'm really really worried I'm gonna have nowhere to put my beer. or my tent. or my bag with my beer and clothes in it that should be in my tent.
Also, I don't think truck really has the capacity for this kind of weather, I'm sure ordinarily at any one time at least 30/40% of the audience are hanging out in the campsite. If people don't even really have tents pitched, there're gonna be an awful lot of people trying to get in the barn/lounge/trailer park
and memorable and amazing. And I hope it is.
i am not not going!
The prospect of a wet festival fills you with dread, rather than childlike joy.
i'm not fine with waterlogged places where you can't even pitch a tent/
The prospect of a wet festival fills you with a terribly middle-aged satisfaction, as you know you'll be comfy in your deluxe camping chair whilst everyone else wallows
comes attached to a yacht right? Otherwise I'm really not sure it's gonna be all that.
deluxe camping chair + deep water + mud = no more deluxe camping chair
i don't have a deluxe camping chair. mine was £4 from asda. same price as a BOX OF PERRY!!!! HAURRAH!
i mustn't be old then cos every new piece of bad news is making me laugh my ass off more and more.
i'm sort of glad* I'm not playing now.
loads of water + gig with tiny laptop = not good.
*only sort of though
i wonder if they actually have power...
this makes me sad.
I'm just not playing.
well actually I am. but unofficially.
quite likely I'm actually not.
although no-one might be coming now. oops.
"I don't think Truck is happening - we've been evacuated to the church and water's over knee deep"
first 75 there get in. I bet Brian Jonestown Massacre would be ace in that church. As would whoever's doing the late night barn dancing.
It's meant to keep raining til 7pm and beyond and it's now knee deep? If it does happen I'm bringing a lilo.
and you. As you're last in the tent, we'll use you as a lilo.
I let it wash over me, and ignored it :)
won't fit up my arse or anything, but it's fantastic in terms of buoyancy.
because I'm going back to London tonight to leave early tomorrow, and if it is cancelled i will be very annoyed if I miss all the graduation parties tonight and tomorrow because I've needlessly gone back to London.
i dont want to pay for train tickets...
they love questions.
its only gonna get 100 times worse when 100's of people start walking about in it, and would be pretty dangerous
"If you are coming from the South then I definately wouldn't come today. The A34/M4 junction has a landslip so is closed today (and the M4 only just reopened). Don't know how bad the landslip is but if it's bad then I guess the road won't be open tomorrow either."
are cancelled as well :D
is still keen
its hot up here in scotland.
THREE DAY WEEKEND!
well, obviously, but mainly because I just rang home to see if I could borrow some wellies and an umbrella and my dad said "yeah sure, but the wellies are green and pink" and I know the umbrella is transparent with loads of yellow rubber ducks. I'm gonna look like a sex offender!
bermuda shorts as well.
go au naturel.
If you're gonna be a sex offender, at least do it properly.
and with less chance of being shot to pieces. I don't know what you're all complaining about.
all get Spanish Flu afterwards
down by the stream, as my mate found out when he went to drunkenly take a piss in it! Funny times.
Whats the latest?
it's game over.

but who's matt paradise?
no truck :(
i've now heard this as well.
But I now actually feel a bit gutted on your behalves.
