bastards. utter bastards :(
it was on a wall. hardly a thing to lug to bonhams. do you suppose the building itself was worth the £300k?
whose "estimate"? how the hell would you buy it? who actually owned it to sell it, since it was created on public property without permission?
art shmart. they left it up for long enough, taking it down might keep him on his toes and make him do new stuff.
what a shame :(
very, very angry.
ha ha only joking. Its a real shame, but it was bound to happen sooner or later. I got 'wall and piece' for £8 in fopp. Bargainous.
I like it when he puts a rat in the Natural History Museum.
the diana faced fivers coming out of the cashpoint myself.
but their excuse is flimsy, considering hoxton has far greater problems in social deprivation than some graffiti on a wall, and The Powers That Be are in no hurry to fix those.
I'm afraid. I bet it cost a few quid to get rid of as well.
i'd be a bit disappointed if it happened to http://houston.metblogs.com/archives/images/2006/06/bristol_banksy.jpg though
in 'real life'.
so have I
some of his stuff down in St Werburgh's has gone as well I think
near my house someone has stenciled a Banksy-style rat holding a paintbrush in a subway, and some (no doubt) angry chap has sprayed "ever heard of banksy you wanker" next to it. It made me chuckle once...almost.
there are some Banksky-esque stenciled images with the words 'guess how much I'm worth now?' etched next to them.
That Warhol parody is awful.
and he is one of the most self-important tossers I've ever had the misfortune of reading.
Some of his things, however, are quite good.
