my life = over, right?
Brilliant game though.
neverwinter nigths a few days ago and haven't started to play...
So maybe not !
you'll make a new city, everything will fall to pieces, and you end up just pressing UFO, UFO, UFO over and over till you get bored 15min after starting and never touch it again.
to zone a seaport. SO WHY WON'T IT DEVELOP???? :'(
isnt far off that is it?
= Seaport Growth
LOADS of industrial zoneage.
I love Sim City.
when it clearly is :(
it was like that on the old one, but then i started a new game and deliberately put a patch of land to the lowest possible level. i don't understttttttaaaaaaaaand. and now my city is piled up with rubbish AGAIN.
theme park or mayors house yet?
it wasn't big enough.
i have the haunted house, and now a city hall.
still running at a loss tho :(
Run one year at 4% and one year at 10%, so your tax rate is effectively 7%. Everyone will come to your city when it's 4%, metal it out whilst it's 10%, and then stay again when it's 4%.
I played this too much.
You could rake it in.
I think you could run an entire year at 0% tax, get maximum growth, then in december put the tax rate to 100% and still get maximum money for the year, before putting it to 0% again.
They patched that pretty quick if i remember.
Tax residences higher than industry but less than commerce at first, then later on tax industry heavily and commerce lightly, then when you're city is fully commercial build an airport and tax the businesses to hell.
<runs to install SC2000>
You should have a low commercial tax because you don't get much revenue from commerce tax until your city is really big and getting flashy commercial buildings in a small town is quite cool.
Try putting some commercial zones in prime waterside locations and watch the land value fly!
I always liked to get a solid industrial base first though, plus you -need- some commerce, so it will spring up anyway, then pay you lots of money.
Such an open ended game <3
You guys looking forward to Spore?
But it really frustrates me for some reason.
I think it was the first Sim City that I liked the best. It was all in 2-D, and sending out Godzilla out onto Tokyo was hella fun.
but could never make it work. i found it in a box last night, and decided to have another play around. and i did. <3
and start being tomorrow?
i need to go to bed..
how tragic would it be to skive work tomorrow to play SC3000?
wait until your sims are mature functioning citizens before taking sickies to tend to their emotional wellbeing
you need to use your work time to skive off and post on DiS
on my dads Windows 92 machine. You could construct an Everest of waterfalls at the start and thus cop out on hydro-electricity, forever. I could not for the life of me work out why the population of every city I made levelled out at 20,000 and stayed there. Took me most of my childhood to work out that that was as much as the computer could handle. :(
i'm still awake.
i've just realised i've been playing it for FIVE AND A HALF HOURS.
i'm so fucked for tomorrow now :(
i'm going to spend all day alternating between being grouchy and wanting to play more sim city.
somewhere from the old PC. I might dig it out. I was always really at it though.
but there doesn't seem to be any way to get it to run under XP.
