my favourite RPG ever, hands down.
Amazing, amazing game.
I had a dream last night that I went into an independant game shop and got into a geeky conversation with the mananger, before befriending him so he would give me all the good games from behind the shelf.
you know, even after all these years there's still one character that eludes me.
i saw a copy for sale in Gamestation for about £40 about 18 months ago. i was astounded.
I still remember the shock of discovering that Oddler was in fact Odd Eye, despite the fact that the name should have really given it away. And the bit where you get shrunk and play chess. I love the first Shining Force game too.
i hate how it lacks the free-roaming mode of II.
same goes for shining force CD, actually.
Shining Force CD was just a compilation of Japanese-only Game Gear games. I never got to play Shining Force 3, not having a Saturn and all...
I never had a megadrive so I played it on an emulator.
but the Japanese-only ones provide story links between #1 and #2. odd-eye appears in some of them!
the best tabletop RPG.
and also my favourite SNES game.
shadowrun = cyberpunk but with magic and dragons n shizzle. it's ACE.
Call of Cthulhu is clearly the best tabletop RPG.
Or maybe Vampire: The Masquerade
Megaman series is the best series on NES. Absolutely amazing.
if any of those were cyberpunk games that also had magic & dragons in them.
Though Dragon Wars on the Commodore 64 might win out.
Underworld was stupidly short but also really open and clever.
MMORPG = the future
I have to walk 20 mins to play it, and I was nearly attacked on my way home yesterday, but its worth it.
I love the idea but know I would by now be dead.
Massive multiplayer online role playing game.
world of warcraft
maple story etc
The first two I have played excessivley and payed for it in more ways than one, but theyre awesome.
You have a game where there isn't much needed in the way of AI because you have tonnes of players all over the world logged on and playing characters within the gameworld.
There was one like Elite (Eve Online I think) that I wished I'd had time to play because that sounded like exactly the sort of thing Elite's style would have suited.
Others I know have, however.
KILLER YOU SO MUCH.
(Exchange of the Day)
spending far too much time so they can get items like "pagan strength gloves of the monkey" and look cooler than the other geeks. You join into teams and go into dungeons and fight monsters 'n shit.
but when i was, liek, 11, we had this wicked LAN rpg game at school. it was entirely text-based, but as a result really easy to customise. so the guys who ran it made it massive and full of geek jokes (i remember ending up in babylon 5 once, and on rita repulsa's moon palace), and would turn people they didn't like into frogs.
TAKE THAT BACK BEFORE I KILLER YOUR STUPID FACE IN
