Anyone heard the new album? Worth getting?
sounds like more of the same from various reviews i've read, which doesn't fill me with hope as i really don't like happiness in magazines..
with that mofo song in my head this morning. and it was just a certain bit where the chord changes. And that's really annoying.
well produced guitar pop
Not sure if i'll bother
i always thought he hated blur's output from the mid 90s and wanted to do more "out-there" stuff.
now he seems content to just retread Modern Life Is Rubbish over and over.
Happiness... was brilliant, a cracking little record. And he really brought it to life when he played it live. Apart from a couple of complete retreads of Coffee & TV (alright Graham, we get it, you wrote and sang that one...) it was flawless.
I'm looking forward to the new one. Patricide said is was good, and that's a good enough recommendation for moi.
I can't quite put my finger on why, but it just doesn't have that OOMPH a lot of his earlier solo albums did, it all feels a bit soulless and calculated to me, like it was his BIG COMEBACK ALBUM.
i suppose a lot of it has to do with the change in his writing methods - he used to say he only wrote a solo album when he had a "personal crisis". i just loved the scrappy, intense records he used to make.
have to agree that it all came across a lot better live, however.
that Magazines was one half of a great record. But it is a bit rich for him to say that he won't go back to Blur because it's too childish considering his most recent output.
and they have been together since they were basically kids, so you can understand if that's the level he connects with the others on and is getting a bit weary of this. but i wish he would go back to blur.
i'm seeing him live on 2nd april so thought i'd let that decide me.
also referred to it as being "under-developed" or something. buh?
hmmm to that then...
