I've seen them play Ray in its entirety a few times.
"ANThology holds all you could ever want from a debut album and a whole lot more."
- Drowned in Sound
their wikipedia page mentions they recently crowdfunded a triple album. i'm kinda impressed?
Some good stuff going on within.
I believe the band was very confined by 'record label demands' during the first two albums but, since sacrificing (so to speak) label backing for full creative control, InMe have flourished on their own terms.
They sold out the Islington Academy a couple of weeks ago - not too shabby.
InMe are absolutely dreadful
Thought this would be about kula shaker at the round house
The Twilight Sad and 65daysofstatic both did their debuts in full last year and those were some fucking great shows. I wish I'd seen Patti Smith doing Horses this year, I'll take that regret to my grave.
Breeders doing Last Splash in full was good, but I wished they'd done just a regular show. British Sea Power did Decline + all your favourite BSP chart topping hits earlier this year, and it was wonderful, but then they always are, aren't they?
Also Cat Power doing The Covers Record a few years ago.
Generally I'm not massively in favour though - they are by definition predictable shows and I think I'd always prefer to see a normal show
Sometimes it works - the Spiritualised Ladies & Gentlemen shows were incredible (mostly due to the augmented lineup), but I didn't like Sonic Youth doing Daydream Nation very much. I think mostly I miss the spontaneity and the sense of unknown.
Brand New played Deja in full the other week, was completely unannounced and it was incredible. That definitely worked.
with The Ugly Organ. it was pretty cool.
I understand it can look a bit desperate when it's a fading or reformed band playing their popular album but generally it's good fun and you get to hear songs that might hardly ever get played live. I saw the Ash 1977 and Free All Angels shows and Idlewild do 100 Broken Windows and they were all great.
Brand New often play whole albums unannounced and everyone loves those (I've never see one of those shows tragically).
is when I've not actually been that familiar with the album in question (Braid "Frame and Canvas" and Patti Smith "Horses") so it was pretty much the same as a regular show.
Television doing Marquee Moon (out of sequence) less so. PotUSA doing their first album was ok, i guess. Coheed doing In Keeping Secrets at Hevy the other month was better than i was expecting. Get UP Kids doing Something To Write Home About was also pretty great. I left after a few songs of The Fall Of Troy doing Doppelganger, that band is not for me. Glassjaw playing Coloring Book (unannounced) at Reading 2010 was great, although i think most people wanted a hits set. not me though. I think it depends on how much a like an album.
i think i hate the forum THAT much. i always preferred them when they played the Astoria.
if it was an album I wasnt into
the only time that's happened (doing it unannounced) was Thursday doing FUll Collapse which turned out to be amazing
saw The Neon Handshake and Ideas live on the same show, that was great
I saw Ideas twice, great both times as was Neon.
i think the Glassjaw one was enjoyable for me as i'd been listening to it loads in my car and may brother and i were pretty baked and it's got a lot of bass groove to it.
In the middle of a 150 minute Reading headline show. Let's say as much as I still love that album, no one needs that much Green Day
Couldn't find anyone to come with me, dunno why I didn't go on my own coz I go to gigs on my own all the time. Fucking idiot. I've only seen Hundred Reasons doing a full album thing at a festival, that was ok
Ash doing Free All Angels would have been good but I totally forgot about that. 100% would have got a ticket for Muse doing OOS but they only did it at R&L, the twunts
was fucking excellent.
(at the time) album in full (without saying that's what they were doing in advance)
was fucking terrible.
as InMe are supporting and I like five songs by the Ant boys, four of which are on that album.
Leave your misplaced snobbery out in the vestibule
(that comment wasn't specifically directed at anyone btw lol wtf omg).
