takes half an hour to open on anyone's computer.
Why the fuck does anyone still use iTunes in 2014.
what a total dick
runs well on a Windows 7 pc, interface is clean, organising playlists and burning them to cd is easy. Not as cluttered as several others I've tried (MediaMonkey, Winamp, etc). Quite happy with it.
And it was never red. Nyer nyer n nyer nyer.
always been confused about why people go on and on about it
has a decent interface, allows me to easily add and remove albums and for some unfathomable reason sounds better than winamp through my speakers (that really shouldnt be a thing though). Oh and it's cd ripping feature seems more straightforward than other programs ive used and allows a variety of file types.
Plus I use an ipod touch with it.
and is good for podcasts
that Apple don't do a better job of the Windows version, given that it's the only exposure many Windows users will have to any Apple product and surely it's in their interests to make it as efficient & sexy as possible. I ditched it on my work PC ages ago & use DoubleTwist instead, which is way better. Use it on the laptop I have at home exclusively for playing music and it does indeed still take ages to load.
but after getting a job which plonks me in front of a pc screen all day the last thing i wanted to do was load up my laptop when i got home. Find just bunging albums on the ipod and playing that through the hifi is much better now. Easy way of avoiding constant itunes use?
using iTunes of course
yeah obv but you dont have to deal with itunes constantly if you dont want to, or just use winamp which is compatible with ipod
i think we're going off topic. anyway cut a long story short itunes is fine.
but Apple is too much into ownership these days, I type that as a near fan of Apple too.
explain you've lost me now :/
which works fine, always has. I have a iPhone 5c and it will not sync (drag and drop) music like you can with an iPod. Music I have paid for from Apple I cannot listen to on an Apple device as the architecture is 32 / 64. I can grab from the cloud but I should have more freedom. Apple advance leaving paying customers behind which is plain crazy. Lovely machines but cash over style leaves a bitter taste.
am I being stupid or has repeat gone?
not very intuitive apple
Very customisable, lots of addons, not Apple.
but it put artists and albums that begin 'The' under 'T'. So fuck that.
only problem I have is I'm mithered to download iTunes 24.1875234 or w/e on a roughly fortnightly basis. No option for "do not ask me again", which puts it into the same category the Christians that pester me for donations on the street every day.
physical media or streaming.
I can think of many reasons to disagree.
Am i the only one that likes to keep a mobile phone and music separate? Seriously?
Phones sound flaky, run out of battery really fast, annoy you with messages when your listening and streaming just doesn't seem at all sustainable at the moment. I want to see my music not a bunch of advert banners and log on each day to see that a favourite album has disappeared. I get really defensive and insecure about this because I feel pressured into it by the press and the authoritative tone its users take.
I know I'd regret it unless Spotify released an actual dedicated portable player.
keep both things very seperate. extracted myself from itunes earlier this year after having a sansa clip epiphany. just drag and drop everything into that.
got a sansa clip fuze + for my birthday a couple of years back but fucked it off because it was slow and crashed all the time. Now got a lovely 2nd hand Ipod touch 32gb which works wonderfully and has got me over my hump about no more ipod classic.
Tried to put music on my mobile but i hate the thing and got fed up with it sounding shit and being slow too.
i'm not a complete luddite i do use spotify free loads.
god i'm a sensitive bugger aren't i? i'll shut up
amazing firmware .. stops it crashing etc
i didn't, what's so good about it? is there any point now i've got an ipod touch?
how to organise your music, and how your music can sound, there really is endless sound options with Rockbox.... it also extends battery life. the thing that pissed me off about my old ipods was the slavery to EU volume law. with the Sansa gear you can get round that and i can have my music sounding as loud as i bluddy like lol.
haha ok fair enough
volume isnt an issue, ive got tinnitus so listen to everything at like 50% anyway. I might muck about with it at some point but its unlikely.
that my last Sony phone and all my HTC phones had better audio quality than either my iPod mini or iPod classic.
genuinely had a bit of a panic at the prospect of my iPod Classic ever breaking and not being able to get a decent-sized music player / thing that is perfect for podcasts. How is there insufficient demand, man?
On my mobile. Stupid jumping screen.
I use iTunes, fwiw. Not computer literate enough to bother pissing about with anything else. Very rarely ever download anything from actual iTunes though, just use the interface.
It is very clunky, awkward and unideal for playing music. Before I had iPods i used to use Winamp. It's so much louder and you can queue albums easily and make playlists easily.
Tend to play albums on shuffle at home anyway though so.
Good contribution, yeah?
I don't use iTunes because it seems to use far too many resources for its database and it's big system hog compared to WinAmp (also, I don't need movies, books, etc. under one thing).
However, it should only take that long on the first startup, I would think, when it builds its db. If it's always taking ages that implies there is a lot of content it's indexing and that this content is somewhere hard to get to, or is slowing down the machine in some way.
if the user has to cock around with settings and disable half of the software to be able to use it properly, Apple are doing it wrong. They've done a lot of good work with UIs in general, but iTunes (on Windows at least) is indefensible.
I am so ahead of you guys it is UNREAL.
has a great sound (Mac only)
into not giving a shit about mundane things like this? OCD is making my week hell again.
All i need is somebody to type "you can consume music how you like, you're not hurting anybody, nobody cares"
just to prove i'm not insane, http://www.ocduk.org/types-ocd - I have the 'ruminations' down the page. Fuck knows why I'm posting this here but having just found that page i feel a bit better.
Formats/type of software mean absolutely nothing to me as long as I can play music I like and I can organise it easily.
Even technological advanced nations like Japan still mainly listen to music on "outdated" CDs if that makes you feel any better http://noisey.vice.com/en_uk/blog/why-does-japan-still-love-cds-so-much
appreciate this, thanks <3
Kobalt writers got more out of Spotify than iTunes for the first quarter.
Fuck off, iTunes.
my wishlist had 100+ albums in it and now it is only restricted to 32:/
