main stage sub headliners.
They must be excusing their sheer lack of any kind of undercard with the fact that they booked four headliners, out of which two of them are only just big enough to do it, and another one is a band way past its peak playing the same slot they did a few years back. Having said that, the headliners are all things I would happily watch and enjoy, but this is poor even by modern reading standards. Courteeners, regardless of taste (not my cup of tea) are not big enough to headline the second stage.
blink 182 are the only band i'd make an effort to go see there
I can settle that dilemna for you Reading...
because paramore was better than whatever qotsa farted out last year, even if qotsa had a better debut
I almost didnt bother going because I thought they'd probably not be very good
Paramore are one of the worst bands ever
Paramore on the other hand was a work of joyous pop genius.
steady on mate, I know it's only tuesday but
Can we stop with this revisionist nonsense?
Oh who cares. All a bunch of utter shit bands. Not surprised they'd be playing Reading.
if you've got nothing worth saying or you sign in as TheoGB, just don't bother saying it at all, alright!?!?!
in the line-up on the poster - i'm by no means a fan but hadn't realised their fall had bee quite so drastic http://www.readingfestival.com/line-up
it must be disappointing for them though
in about 2007.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis!
The Klaxons billing looks like it's the DJ's for the dance stage rather than random bands.
They must have been really struggling to book a Friday headliner if their last announcement is 2 bands not big enough to headline. I'd heard a rumour they were looking for a dance headliner. When T in the Park announced Calvin Harris was headlining I assumed he'd be doing Reading as well.
now 5th mainstage. bit fairer but still...right?
So well deserved.
their set was about the most fun I had that weekend
Courteeners HEADLINING NME Tent
Enter Shikari 3rd from top Main
remember when R/L bands had to actually ascend the bill on merit instead of every other viable candidate falling by the wayside? jfc :')
I've not checked for ages, but they always seemed to be playing on the music channels/Zane Lowe etc. perfect Reading fodder.
But probably no-one else.
Also being surrounded by thousands and thousands of absolute thundering backsides would dampen any high spirits.
Would likely walk around in a daze before passing out in the mud exhausted alone and in tears. Sounds great!
gonna go just for them
better than ATP
of Swans, MBV, Psychic TV and Spacemen 3 playing on the mainstage...
I haven't heard of loads of those bands, who the fuck are Macklemore? Why are the Hives between "Foster the People" and "Peace"? Why are the Hives even still around?
The headliners are all bands I would hugely enjoy watching, plus, in terms of general DiS-friendly bands on the bill theres Vampire Weekend, Jimmy Eat World, SBTRKT, Warpaint, Drenge, Bombay Bicycle Club, CHVRCHES and Metronomy, (plus aforementioned headliners). And thats before most of the acts have been announced, including the Lock Up Tent.
I'll agree its not exactly the best line up ever, but there'd be enough there to ensure I'd enjoy the weekend.
that Reading lineups often looked shit, then the full line up came out and there was a lot of good stuff there. Then also it would be a nice list of stuff to dig out and get into before actually going. I haven't been since 2003 though. Christ that was a long time ago.
which is also a perfect description of Reading as they are the only people who will be happily extorted (or at least Daddy's credit card) for the ticket price.
You's probably have to pay me £210.50 to go and see any of the others.
No Kaiser Chiefs on the bill. Is this the first year without them, or will they be a late addition?
don't think they've played more than once in the last 6 years though
