This is the only thing stopping me from smashing up my phone and computer in a Kraftwerk induced rage
*breathes deeply and presses redial*
J.F.C
Just after
I get back from Primavera too. Nice.
So happy there's a Scottish date.
This is gonna be amazing.
what's the venue like?
do the shows there finish early-ish so I can get the last train back home?
great.
can't remember. it's not very accessible for transport. secc is yr nearest railway station.
it was really good for WU LYF
kinda dark and murky and arty, so should suit these guys pretty well. Also did finish plenty early last time, got all the way back to Central in plenty time for the last or second-to-last train, can't remember exactly
excellent
thank you!
think: bigger version of stereo
but upstairs, instead of downstairs
Without the pillars?
Seriously, if they had a Stereo without those fucking pillars, that would be awesome!
YES!
It actually made me forget about the McCartney thing.
Shitting Hell!
I was going to say more but I guess that'll do.
Woooooo
I wish they were playing in Brighton but I can't complain too much. FINALLY GOING TO SEE TITUS ANDRONICUS.
First Desaparecidos, now this.
Great day.
FUCK
YES
Bristol Fleece
Two great bands. Yes please.
awwwwww sheeeeeeeit
I am all up in that Manchester date. :D
Final exams the next day :(
Someone wise please advise me? (hint: looking for a answer that paraphrases "Fuck exams, go and see Titus!")
as long as it isn'd godawful early
go for it. if you're not prepared by the night before, you probably never will be.
prepare well and go enjoy yourself
i did this for the rapture/factory floor this year and got an 84 on my neuroscience exam and got a 1st.
Sound advice, cheers
Although I think a 1st is probably out of the question either way! Titus it is then.
Ya fuckin' double dancer
well this is exciting
what are The Titus Andronicus like?
are they true punx
I saw them
They reminded me of the Dropkick Murphys.
probably the best band in the worlds
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFHlK8ZXgvE
Titus Androssnicus more like
insider info: there's another band to be added into this tour, but no idea who
my money is on Iceage
glorious punk mayhem
Think you might be right about Iceage
New to Matador, played with Fucked Up before, good live. Let's hope so.
that would be
a.m.a.z.i.n.g.
ughh i hope not
iceage have been atrocious the two times i've seen them live
it's metz playing with them
i read somewhere earlier today but i can't remember where!
this makes this gig essential...however i wont be in the country, so i wont be there :(
here?

Jesus.
Cannot. Fucking. Wait.
WHOAFT
that's a leak and shouldn't have been announced yet hah
OH MY
Not fussed about Titus, but the combination of Metz and Fucked Up is just too much to resist.
ticket bought
:D
Glasgow tickets
Has anyone found a link to buy them?
here:
http://www.seetickets.com/Event/FUCKED-UP-AND-TITUS-ANDRONICUS/SWG3/684048
if anyone has a spare for leeds....
I will buy you beers
Sending a PM
Have taken the (hopefully) responsible decision
and decided not to go, seeing as I have an exam the next morning and would have to travel back (this actually refers to all the dates...)
Hope it's awesome, I'm sure I'll finally get to see Titus another time. Any chance they might announce a smaller London gig the weekend after the tour?
Just sorted out a ticket for this
First time seeing Fucked Up.
12th or something stupid for me
i'd probably KILL someone or something to go to thsi
fuckng hell
srsly TITUS ANDRONICUS + FUCKED UP
I'd sacrifice myself to satan
Don't suppose anyone knows
which order they're going on? Or will the alternate it? I'm going to the Glasgow show.
Basically, I'm really going for Titus but I want to at least give Fucked Up a go despite them not doing much for me on record. I'm working late though and might not get there till about 9ish and would be gutted to miss Titus.
its Fucked Up headlining innit?
Excited for this in Leeds tomorrow
Despite the fact that I am now going on my own :(
Me too!
My friends are awful
Metz are fucking ridiculous
Make sure you get there early if you can
Seconded
METZ were unbelievable. Why they were supporting that pile of shit i'll never know, but who cares?
Not I.
#opinions
What merchandise did they have?
Hoping to pick up Titus Andronicus' RSD release.
i don't think there was any TA merch
At least, I didn't see any
Nope!
I asked the drummer and he said they forgot basically.
So frustrating the curfew is so early at the fleece, even though it doesnt seem to me to be near any houses. It seemed to me they just wanted to open it up for a club night which is a bit annoying. It's a great gig space, but sometimes there it seems they dont give a crap about the gigs.
Good 45 minutes though, if a bit ragged. Fucked Up were brilliant - they have some nice merch.
have a spare for tonight
Thanks to the-breacher which I said I'd try and shift for him, if anyone's interested
I can't imagine having more fun at a gig this year than last night
was great
not as much use of the super long microphone cord as I'd have liked.
Titus played it very raw. I'm pretty sure I'd seen videos of them playing with a violinist from Okkervil River and that's how I sold them to my wife.
Great stuff though.
Missed metz which I understand was a mistake but I needed to take the aforementioned wife for dinner to sweeten the deal.
yeah they did
she left on this album
I saw them in Bristol
Really bloody enjoyed it. Forgot it was a Sunday gig so it seemed to start ridic early, I managed to arrive halfway through Titus. I didn't expect them to look like they did. They were excellent. Fucked Up just made me smile the entire time, even when I ended up with the singer's sweaty head rubbing against me on one of his wanders around the crowd. Left and the town centre was full of people at some dance music fest in Castle Park, some impromptu drum n bass kicked off round the corner next to an abandoned bank. Got the bus home which was full of arseholes. Good times.
going to the Glasgow show tonight
super excited :D
Me too
Thought I'd lost my ticket
Remembered I'd selected to pick it up at the venue
Great work
me too!
Metz are on at half 7 yo
Have fun troops, should be a cracking gig!
Why didn't I know about this?!?!?!
.FFS.
Last night was so good!
Definitely worth the 11 hours of Megabussing it took me to get to Leeds and back. Unfortunately I had to rush off before Fucked Up, but Titus Andronicus and METZ were both stellar.
I was also at the Leeds gig and it was great.
I was mainly there for Titus - who I hadn't seen before but was really looking forward to - but also really enjoyed FU and Metz. Lead singer of Titus' voice is about shot so the sound was pretty rough. Easily one of the best gigs of the year even with a mid set lull with a couple of weaker tracks from Local Business and a bizarrely faithful cover of Killing In the Name.
Let another Leeds-goer
Went for Fucked Up (brilliant) but wasn't too familiar with Titus Andronicus. Thought their set wasn't great, perfectly enjoyable for the purposes, however... but yeah, his voice did sound truly broken.
Wish I had someone to go to tomorrow's Camden show with
FU were incredible at Field Day
You fucking scared me then
It's on Thursday! I'll be there, wearing a red rose on my lapel.
I'm going on Thursday
Long shot, I know but does anyone have any idea on stage times?
It's an Eat Your Own Ears gig. They're usually very good and post
stage times on their Twitter site early on the day of the gig.
Ah great.
I guess i'm going to miss Metz, as my train doesn't get in to St Pancras till 8. Sad :(
Have got a couple of spares for London on Thursday
PM me if interested...
Well last night was bloody outstanding!
Glad to see Titus actually made it, you could tell they'd had a rough day. Hopefully people's reactions told them we were happy to have them there. Actually thought it would be impossible to follow Fucked Up but they played hard, it wasn't out of place or anything putting them on last... maybe a wee bit.
Fucked Up were just great, possibly the most fun band I've seen. 3 times now and they don't disappoint. The band are actually so good, like aside from what Pink Eyes is getting up to in the crowd, the rest of the band are so fucking tight it's unreal!
Enjoyed Metz too. Bass was so loud man! Like too loud! I'm up for a loud show but not when one thing drowns everything else out. Couldn't make out vocals or guitar.
yeah Titus did very well
given the circumstances
oh and, that was like my 12th FU show
still not bored
3rd for me, I'd go and see them again tomorrow if I could.
Good to meet you last night dude.
did you?!
oh, hi!
Yeah man, Iain's mate, The 78
oh right!
Hi!
times for tonight in manchester
7.30 - Metz
8.30 - TA/FU
9.45 - FU/TA
Glasgow show was awesome.
Went specifically to see Titus and then started to fear that they weren't going to appear. But they did and they nailed it, particularly as there wasn't time for any filler - just the favourites (and a cheeky wee Big Country riff). Promised myself i would try to be sensible but ended up jumping about like an eejit. A real 'triumph out of adversity' gig.
Had heard good things about Metz (an angry version of A Place To Bury Strangers anyone??) so was glad to have seen them. Fucking hell were they loud though. That bass.....
Hadn't seen Fucked Up before. They were a lot of fun. Might be tempted to go see them again.
Overall, a great Tuesday night in an old warehouse at the end of a slightly dodgy looking street!!
Titus... I dunno, man
Obviously far from the best I've seen them, but I feel that even without the circumstances that wouldn't be true. Patrick was just really bitter. I kinda wondered what happened with Local Business here, because it's never appeared on Spotify or iTunes. I got it from Amazon in the end because I could never find a copy. It was just a bit... I dunno. I guess it didn't help that everything happened.
(Also I miss Amy and her violin a lot.)
(Also jfc he looks thin. I mean, he was never chunky or anything, but he looked /thin/)
Fucked Up were AMAZING though. I'd forgotten just how much fun live they are.
Yeah, I though he looked really thin too...
but then i hadn't ever seen him without the beard. He also had a prime case of "old man hands" - really veiny and boney. Maybe "My Eating Disorder" is a little too close to the truth!!
I bought Local Business off Amazon when it came out - didn't know it wasn't available off the shelf.
They weren't as good as the Oran Mor show a couple of years ago but I still really enjoyed what we got. I thought the edginess added to the performance, but if it was someones first time seeing them then they might have wondered what the fuss is about.
Hopefully we'll see them do a full show at King Tuts or somewhere similar soon.
I've had this gut feeling for a little while that Titus are about to break up
what are the 'circumstances' everyone's talking about? transport woes or?
Their van had a blow-out on route to the show
They changed to the spare and got another two miles before it blew too.
Ended up having to be towed to a garage and subsequently being late and having to go on after Fucked Up. But at least they made the effort and credit to them.
Patrick just looked every inch the guy that had endured a really shitty day and maybe a little too much of that spilled out during the show.
Patrick actually said the band were breaking up
Turned out to be a cruel, cruel joke and then he started rambling on about curfews and hopes one day he'll return to play in the People's Republic of Scotland instead of the "Not-even-Ok Britain".
Also
was anybody else really disappointed with Metz? It was just too fuckin' loud. I didn't have earplugs or anything and it was just too much for me. I felt so sorry for my girlfriend, she hates that type of music anyway. The songs just seemed to merge into one as the guitar was drowned out by the bass and drums.
I really love the Metz album by the way.
I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if it was a 'jokey' expression of very real, thinly-veiled frustration
simmering just below the suface,
i reviewed glasgow
http://www.glasgowpodcart.com/titus-andronicus-fucked-up-metz-swg3-185/
metz were great
titus ok, they covered champagne supernova
fucked up were great
great show
spoke to Titus after, they were staying in Salford. Patrick is a weird man
Ticket for London show tonight
I bought a ticket for the Electric Ballroom show off t'interwebnets for £10 and now don't think I can make it.
If anyone wants it for a tenner, PM me and I'll email it over to you.
guys
Im so fucking excited for this.
Very much so
This'll be my 6th time seeing Fucked Up and 1st for Titus. Hyped for Metz too.
Not seen either of them!
I did catch Metz on Saturday though- really really good.
Fucked Up are such a great live band
Damien's crowd roaming antics are great and all, but as a musical unit they totally nail it.
My ticket's still available
Go on then, a fiver if you want it.
Anyone got amy idea of stage times tonight?
I'm sorely tempted by Pioneer's ticket but need to know if I'm going to able to get there in time for Titus (who I assume will be second on tonight?).
Metz
say they're on at 8 on Twitter. I'd guess TA at 8.45 and FU at 10, but as I say, that's a guess.
@EatYourOwnEars:
SET TIMES:
7:30PMDOORS
8-8.30PMMetz
9-9.50PMTitus Andronicus
10.10-11PMFucked Up
Gah,
Ny train gets in to St P at 8.01. No Metz for me then :(
Thanks for that
Pioneer - you have a PM.
Anyone got an FU setlist from this tour?
Interested to see what old stuff they've been playing, as we only got "David Comes To Life" and "Son The Father" at Field Day
I'm not overly familiar with a lot of Fucked Up's stuff
but in Glasgow I know for sure we got Queen of Hearts, Turn the Season, The Other Shoe (basically the singles from David Comes to Life). Sorry.
pretty sure there was a lot of other old stuff though, the crowd seemed to know a lot of it. I've only just started listening to them in more detail since the gig.
They're probably the only band that I hardly ever listen to..
..but will always try and catch when they're on tour.
I went more for Titus and Metz
Loved Fucked Up's set though. Damian gave me a big sweaty hug and my face smelled like his back hair for the rest of the night. I was speaking to him in Barcelona about Beef & Tomato Pot Noodles which are apparently his favourite. You should take him one. He's the nicest.
also
2 new ones
police
black albino bones
under my nose
Running On Nothin
they didn't play Police in Glasgow :'(
whatd they play instead?
i think it was the second to last song for manchester
KEEP ON ROCKIN IN THE FREE WORLD
lol great stuff tonight
Great gig last night...
Gutted to miss Metz due to being stuck in the ticket collection queue outside the venue - what a shambles.
That was great, greater than I'd hoped even
Caught half of Metz who were suitably raucous.
Titus were great, and there was a strong showing in the crowd for them.
Fucked Up are simply incredible. If at all avoidable I will never miss a London show and gladly travel for them. Their new songs sounded good, stuff from DCTL is really tight now (not that it was ever loose) and
I'm always happy to head Black Albino Bones.
Fantastic show.
so much this
rare to be so excited for a show and then have it deliver on all accounts.
Where I was the sound was superb all night as well.
Metz were bludgeoningly brilliant, Titus a raucous edgy mess & Fucked Up pure GOOD TIMES.
Yeah real good.
I arrived late and had to leave early because of trains and other stuff so I only saw Titus (but I did get a ticket for a fiver - thanks Pioneer!).
Titus were much tighter and seemed to be more into it than the gig at the Brudenell at the start of the week. Very different set list too. Good crowd reaction - hopefully they will be back for a headline tour some time soon. The covered Champagne Supernova (hmmm) and Rockin In the Free World (good). If I was being churlish the only bits I didn't much like were the guitarist's gurning on stage left and the introduce the band section where each performer plays a little solo. Surely this should only happen with an ironic wink (which I didn't detect).
It must be about a decade since I was last at the Electric Ballroom. It's been very much tarted up since my last visit - does anyone really want a bloke touting perfumes when you are trying to wash your hands?
