Is it a Sonic Youth style split? Can't really imagine any other reason
Are they getting a divorce or something?
could be related
I haven't had a chance to listen to their last record but the first 2 were ace.
get on to it quick smart.
I LOVE Handsome Furs. Awesome records. Awesome live band. Much better that anything Spencer Krug has done. Fact.
'I know you love me baby, I know the heart is just a little dry...' :(
I don't wish to rub it in or owt but they were terrific live. So much energy and noise for two people.
His wife is completely mental as well, which always helps.
I like handsome furs but for me even krugs worst projects are still better than handsome furs best. Opinion.
I always find Krugs material to be musically and lyrically inventive where as boekners just pretty standard rock music,
but at the same time Krug often feels like the tryhard who turns up at a party and puts some world music on and nobody really likes that guy, whereas Boekner is the dude who gives you a hug when everything goes wrong and everyone likes him
There's a very distinct correlation between who I'd like to go for a pint with and whose music I'd like to listen to here. With Boeckner you're gonna have a great night full of laughs and good times. With Krug he's going to rock up in his chinos, look down his nose at everyone and be all stand-offish and everyone's gonna go `who invited this cunt?`
That's just an ungrounded assertion, nothing I've read/seen about Krug would suggest he is anything like that
...I think I've just discovered the exact point where our opinions divide. Cool. There's plenty of music for us both to enjoy.
Well yeah of course but you were the one to make the initial comparison
If you like that sort of thing, I suppose.
I have never heard a note of a single piece of music that Spencer Krug has released which has in any way resonated with me. But each to their chinstroking own, I guess.
Nothing chinstroking at all there.
Sunset Rubdown are the most accessible of his projects (again, Wolf Parade aside) but they are still clearly the mark of a man who is TRYING TOO HARD. It annoys me but, again, each to their own.
Random Spirit Lover is fantastic. They're hardly Metal Machine Music.
Obviously he's a lot cleverer than Dan B, but you needn't pay any particular attention to the fantasy lyrics or self-references etc, 'cause the music is bangin' in its own right.
because both songwriters can write dynamite choruses. The combo of stuff like `I'll Believe In Anything` with stuff like `This Heart's On Fire` = amazing.
nothing spectacular with the set up but just really energetic and the two of them had so much tension onstage. they played in London last May, just before SK came out. end of the set Dan gives Alexa a big hug and the entire crowd cheers <3
Last saw them at the Garage in late 2009. Great gig. Even if the Garage was half empty...
and not this the part where you say better than anything Spencer Krug has done. Apart from live, I'll give it to them live.
Think they've got a reasonable following but why does that matter there is no association between fan base size and quality
Radio Kalininbrad's pretty much one of the best tunes ever, isn't it? Sad to see them go
