not a good week for Edinburgh clubs/venues, HUH
could they not plausibly move into part of Summerhall? It's being reopened as a major arts & tech centre.
Kid Canaveral did their Christmas thing but I didn't get a ticket before it sold out. Wish I had now, I wanna find someone good for a similar event..
It was only in one small part of the building (the room you can see into in the windows above the front door), but when I was there for the record fare during August I got to see a bit more of it. There's easily space for a club in there somewhere.
If not there, I'm sure Bongo will find someplace else. As that link mentions, this ain't the firs time.
Someone on my course is the bar manager (I think?) there, so he's going round petitioning to keep it open. Here's hoping he succeeds
I have been ranting to anyone who will listen for a long time now about Edinburgh Council allowing all the good arts venues to be turned into office space or luxury flats. They are happy to trade off the arts rep of the festival yet spend the other 10 months of the year undermining everything cultural in the city. Please sign the petition to save the Bongo if you haven't already https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHQ0aU5Fb2xfWF9xZnV3TlVxOG5GWmc6MQ
they didn't seem to be trying very hard to get people through the doors apart from during the festival...
